Guest guest
hi, Could anyone tell me how to get hold of topical niacin to induce flushing for photoderm treatments. My Doc has not heard of it, maybe its an American product? Please advise, I live in the UK. Guest guest
I am taking Lovastatin and Zetia. When I started this, Dr Cohen was consulted. He said that I should take the statin drug but increase my CoQ to accomodate for it which I have done. I have not had any problems with the med. Lovastatin lowers the bad cholesterol and raises the good cholesterol. Zetia (like Niacin) attacks the tryglycerides so someone who is told that Niacin won't help them must not have high tryglycerides. I called my Dr. to ask how much to take and she said that niacin would not lower mine.........I don't know why.
Guest guest
My low carb diet seems to put my triglycerides in a good range; previously, I had high triglycerwas but okay cholesterol, and now my cholesterol is slightly high (220), but my HDL good and not enough risk categories to consider medication. It's probably wise to try new meds when one has family or friends around, the rxn could be anything goes for our conditions. I went off one med a few weeks before an important presentation, then went back on it because symptoms were recurring. It made sense I wouldn't need it anymore, but I guess I don't make sense Take care, RH > > A friend from Church suggested I take niacin as she does for high > cholesterol. Guest guest
UUUrrrggghhh! The things we are allergic to! I thought the headaches and flushing were bad enough...as long as you found something for the tri-glycerides. The aspirin does help and I am lucky enough not to have adverse reactions to aspirin. Yes, it was shoffner who first suggested niacin....and considering that heart disease is on both sides of my family.....
Guest guest
There is a med out there for high triglycerides that is not a statin. It is a powder that is mixed in water. My mother (with mito) was given it to help firm up her stool when in a nursing home. This was a side effect. I can't remember the name of it, but hopefully my sister reads this and remembers. Her triglycerides were high as well. You might want to have your doctor get in touch with one of the mito docs to make sure it is okay for mito before you take it. Of course it would mean finding out the name and having your doctor think it was an appropriate option. laurie > > UUUrrrggghhh! The things we are allergic to!
