Guest guest
Hello! I'm Becky, mama to (5, probably Asperger's or HFA) We've done various biomed for 2.5 years along with GF/CF/SF along with no citrus or nuts. My son has improved dramatically but we still struggle with yeast, and my son's BMs are still not quite 100 % ( irregular, light color, one normal BM followed by diarrhea sometimes) He tests very high to almost every food on the IGG food screens, even foods he has never had or hasn't had for 2 yrs. Our DAN says this just points to a still very leaky gut. I have read up on SCD, have Elaine's book, and am convinced that I need to try it, but I have a few questions--forgive me if they've been asked before-- My son tests high to all nuts on Igg food screens (not IgE) The few times he's had a bit of nuts he hasn't reacted. I'd like to try introducing a couple types of nuts to see if he does okay. What is considered the least allergenic type of nut/seed? Maybe sunflower or macadamia? Is there any nut/seed you can make flour out of besides almond? (he tests highest to almond/peanut) Do you try to limit the overal amount of sugar (via fruit) on this diet, or does it not matter as much since it's the " right " kind of sugar? Right now, my son only gets 1 piece of fruit/day, but still eats lots of corn/rice/potatoes. Could I replace these grain snacks he gets with fruit, or would that be too much? thanks in advance, Becky
Guest guest
Hi Becky, My son has been SCD since August and he is 5 years old. We are doing the DAN! along with many other therapies. The SCD keeps Gabe's old BM issues totally in check. We didn't have food sensitivities to deal other than gluten/casein so we are using almond nut yogurt, meats, vegies, baked goods made with almond flour and fruit(Fruit leather, frozen fruit juice, fruit juice in knox to make jello, etc.... You might want to get the book " Cooking to Heal Little Tummies. " I believe they sell it now at www.digestivewellness.com I use that book all the time. Best of luck to you!
