Guest guest
Hi all, > I should have added this to the first paragragh, that oversupplementation doesn't fix the body's inability to process the vitamin/mineral properly. The ability to absorb, process, use up, and excrete are all very specific metabolic processes that have become offline in spectrum children. The body keeps holding onto stores of stuff, in an attempt to use it in some instances, or because the malprocessing is so bad, it can't get rid of it. Do you see? Oversupplementing makes the problem even deeper. In general, I agree. I had my child on an excellent program (he ate a good amount and variety of quality food, moderate supplementation) for a year before we had an ION profile done (google MetaMetrix). Regardless of what differing opinions may be of the value of this or that test, when EVERY SINGLE metabolic process is skewed badly, it shows. And Glenn's was. No need for a PhD to see that despite a great deal of support, everything was off. So yes, just dumping greater amounts into a body that is not absorbing/processing available nutrients will not help, but will only add the the long list of metabolic sludge the kid has to deal with. However, through (even more) tweaking, we got our act together sloooowwwwlly, lol. We are seeing improvements! With SCD (glenn's version) ample and varied individual dose supplementation (glenn's version) some other biomed stuff, we are seeing CONSISTENT NORMAL GUT FUNCTION for the first time in Glenn's short life! Amazing! However, we do a lot more than the norm. Understand that is not a judgement comment: " We do more than everyone else " , rather a quantity comment as in 'more numerous applications'. All are neccessary for him right now. So, while yes, I agree that randomly throwing more supps down these kids' throats or rubbing a bunch of stuff all over them just to do it is perhaps not the best approach, for some, like my son, that's what it takes. We expect as he improves and heals further, we will need to do less, but right now, his body requires all its current supports. >The body needs glutathione, and so many people use it, per doctors >orders, even though the studies show it cannot hardly be absorbed >into the body, and what can, cannot be used by the body. Hmmm. You may be right. Not only have I not read everything out there - yet, lol...I'm working on it ;-) the idea that what one processes oneself would work better does make rational sense. However, for us personally, TD-GSH is great. We use 1/2g split 2x daily. On the second day after using it (Feb 2005), my son drank out of an open cup for the first time in his life. Pretty big deal, IMO. So, again, it is one thing to read, (not just studies, but what other people do and how it works for them - whole point of the lists, right?), but I also feel strongly that reasonable trial and error FOR THE SPECIFIC CHILD is in order. Summer, I think we are on the same page. I also feel that the 'global approach' is what is working for my son, but there are some aspects of our children that can only be determined by their own (informed) caregivers, you know?
