Guest guest
My son's favorite cookie is the " Trail Mix " cookie from " Cooking to heal little Tummies. " It has coconut, pecans, raisins, honey and a small amount of almond flour in it. They are quite good. My whole family loves them. He has nut yogurt and fruit in his thermos most of the time. Sometimes I put small bites of SCD legal sausage in his thermos. He also gets sliced cucumbers with salt, blueberry or banana nut muffins, almond flat bread with homemade jam. Bivens SCD 2nd time around, any ideas Hi everyone, My son was on the SCD from 1/04 to 3/05. It did help him some, but his BMs did not improve at all. It helped with hi sensory issues and hyperactivity. Tests show that he has no yeast, but I disagree. We ventured to a GF, soy free, low casein ang sugar diet with the help of Houston Enzymes. He has been chelating for almost 4 months now, and I think his system will be better able to heal on the SCD now that the metals are leaving his system. enjoys a variety of SCD muffins. I have not yet found a cookie that he will eat. He has a difficult time at school because several children in his class use chips ang cookies as reinforcers. He will eat fruits, but no veggies unless I hide them. He has a HUGE appetite. I have a hard time filling his luchbox with enough food to keep him happy and full and not envious of the other kids. He had been known to try and sneak others foods. The only lunch food he will eat are chicken or turkey tots. Does anyone have any suggestions especially in the crunchy sweet area. Thanks. We will try yogurt in a few weeks. Thanks again, Regina mom to 6, ASD scd 2nd time around 3 days with 1 accident at Grandmas and no die off yet. also mom to 8, Kayla 4 and a 2 For information on the Specific Carbohydrate Diet, please read the book _Breaking the Vicious Cycle_ by Elaine Gottschall and read the following websites: http://www.breakingtheviciouscycle.info and http://www.pecanbread.com

We also did not find that SCD did anything for us the first time we did it (seven weeks during Spring 2004). He was GFCFSFCFYF, Feingold, organic, low-phenol/salicilyte, rotation, etc - that is what we went back to. However, after getting some astronomical anaerobic gut bug lab results back, I restarted SCD with him this winter, with one BIG difference: I asked for an IgG food panel and factored his restrictions (all thirty-nine of them!) into our 'SCD; Part Deux' venture. It made all the difference in the world. We saw improvement in bowel function within two weeks' time. Seven months later, we are down to one or occasionally two, usually formed stools per day. We do some other 'off the cuff' things SCD-wise as well. Another aspect that we have recently been looking into is the oxalate issue (there is a yahoo group for this). Interestingly enough, many of the SCD-legal foods he was reactive to are high in oxalates. As there is a family history of kidney stones and some other metabolic weirdness on both sides of the family, this may have been a key 'puzzle piece' too. FWIW. > He has a > HUGE appetite. I hear that, lol. When Glenn's malabsorption issues were at their worst, he could eat as much as an adult (he's four) and go looking for more. As his system improves, and he is absorbing more of his nutrition, he is less ravenous. HTH! -christine: (mostly SCD; w/ the occasional cheeseburger, lol) Glenn: SCD no dairy, no nuts, no seeds, no beans, limited fruit and honey since 2.01.05. Low oxalate since 9.01.
Guest guest
Would the cookbook be worth buying for someone doing the diet without eggs? I find most recipes contain eggs. a H. > My son's favorite cookie is the " Trail Mix " cookie from " Cooking to heal little Tummies. Guest guest
Hi Regina, > enjoys a variety of SCD muffins. Which muffins? What some do is take muffins slice them in two (or three - depends on how tall the muffin is). Then dry out the muffin (low oven 200°F or a dehydrator)so it is crunchy. > The only lunch > food he will eat are chicken or turkey tots.
