Jane I'm using serenity now and so far I'm finding a big improvement. No hot flashes and periods are regular with no pain and no PMT. Did you see this I posted a week or so ago.. .....I have a very good friend who has suffered terribly with endometriosis for years. Her GP told her that her only option now was a hysterectomy, which even then may not solve her problem. She been trying my Serenity for a week now and has just phoned me to say that for the first time in ages she's feeling really well and she's about to order a bucket load for herself. Guest guest
It says to use an amount the size of a pea, but I wasn't sure how much that was. So in my health diary I marked where I should expect to see the jar half empty, and when I should have used up one jar. I am finding I have been a bit over-cautious with the amount, but I have a better idea now how much to use. Guest guest
hi miriam; thanks for that, good idea, i have now been using serenity for about 10 days and really havn't noticed much difference but it is early days yet. i am now on week 5 of my treatment plan from dr. p. (isn't it a treat to actually have a doctor listen!). i havn't called him at all as i know there are many people out there in a much worse state than i am and i know he has been very busy with clinics but i am looking forward to the next treatament plan. kind regards jane > > ....he wants me to start using serenity cream, which i have ordered. > i know alot of folk on this forum use it and would like to hear your > experiences of it. > > Jane >
Guest guest
Hi Gill, I have been using the Serenity porgeterone cream since the 13th October and definately feel some improvement already. Dr P reccomended it after I had done the saliva test for female hormones as my progesterone was far too low even for a post menapusal woman. I know most people are very cold but as I am always too hot, the reverse is happening to me and I have been experiencing a more normal temperature. My hands and feet have even felt cold sometimes which is a welcome change for me. I stick my little finger in the pot halfway up the nail and this gives you the " pea size " amount you need. Best of luck with your treatment. Luv Stephie > > I would be interested in anyone's experience with progesterone cream - Im seriously considering trying it (which probably means I;ll send for some this weekend!), but I havent fully got my head around it all - but do think I have many of the symptoms associated with oestrogen dominance. >> Gill >
Guest guest
Hello, does everyone that uses serenity or something similar start using it after a hormones test or can you still use it for PMT/PMS, following the guidelines if you haven't had a test but looking at symptoms it's likely you have oestrogen (spelling!) dominance? I didn't realise some of the sex hormones are made by adrenals, will treating adrenals make PMT/PMS symptoms disappear? Guest guest
hi ruth; i didn't start to use serenity until after i had the oestrogen dominance saliva test that dr. p ordered. hormones are such tricky things; i think you need to know what your levels are before taking anything that might affect them. there is a book that is recommended about progesterone cream. it can be ordered from www. progesterone.co.uk kind regards jane- -- In thyroid treatment , " lostgirl7784 " <ruthmillward77@...> wrote: > > Hello, does everyone that uses serenity or something similar start > using it after a hormones test or can you still use it for PMT/PMS, > following the guidelines if you haven't had a test but looking at > symptoms it's likely you have oestrogen (spelling!) dominance? Guest guest
Dr Lee's books talk as though it takes about 6 months for the progesterone cream to have much effect, so I am surprised when people report benefits much sooner. Perhaps it depends on whether progesterone deficiency is the only problem, and how much all the other health problems are inter-related. Also, if the main problem is osteoporosis, then it will take much longer to make a measurable difference. One immediate benefit is that it is very nicely moisturising though! :-) Miriam > > hi miriam; thanks for that, good idea, i have now been using > serenity for about 10 days and really havn't noticed much difference but it is early days yet. Guest guest
Hi Jane, it may be that we don`t actually have less progesterone , it may be only acting as a messenger to balance the oestrogen . being tested before pregnancy could be helpful as this would be a base line . to measure later on when we need to know if we need more progesterone or not. I have read somewhere that there is no such thing as progesterone deficiency. could there be just an in balance.?. food for thought.! angel. Guest guest
What Dr Lee says in his books seems to me quite contradictory. On the one hand he says that you should have a hormone test before starting on the progesterone cream. Then on the other hand he says that it is best to continue on it for the rest of your life. There is no mention of re-testing. That makes me think that he only recommends the test in order to cover his own back and that you probably could start taking it just on the basis of symptoms. It will be interesting to see what other people think about this. It sounds as though most women in the West have too much oestrogen in proportion to their progesterone. It leads to so many symptoms that we consider 'normal'. So, if it were me, I would probably go ahead with the cream on the basis of my symptoms if I really couldn't afford the test. Miriam > I was just wondering whether you need to have been tested and shown to have low progesterone before starting using something like Serenity > cream or whether you can just make an assessment based on symptoms? Guest guest
Hi Miriam - if you were a doctor, wouldn't you consider recommending a test before starting somebody on treatment - to cover your back - I know that I would. Being reported to the GMC for failing to do such testing is not unfamiliar these days. Most women in the West are oestrogen dominant and need progesterone cream adding to balance the two hormones - especially in those who are hypothyroid Won't your GP test to see your sex hormone levels? Guest guest
> Hi Miriam - if you were a doctor, wouldn't you consider recommending a test before starting somebody on treatment - to cover your back - I know that I would. ............ Yes, of course, but the point is that that appears to be the only reason as Dr Lee recommends staying on the cream for life afterwards. > Being reported to the GMC for failing to do such testing is not > unfamiliar these days. .......... > Won't your GP test to see your sex hormone levels? ....... No, absolutely not! She says she treats by symptoms, and will only treat severe ones. I also enquired about the natural oestrogen cream available on the NHS (Estrogel), and mentioned I'd had a saliva lab test showing I was deficient. She responded, " Well, you won't get that from me! " without any kind of explanation. I tend to pussyfoot around NHS doctors rather than confront them when they behave oddly because I depend on their good will for my Incapacity Benefit. :-( Miriam

Guest guest
Hi ; Dr. P. advised me to order it from www.progesterone.co.uk It is called Serenity Cream and the company is based in Gurnsey. I am on my second pot and I believe it is starting to make a difference. Kind regards Jane > > > > > Hi, >  > I've just been trawling through the mmessages and files and I think I need to get some progesterone cream >
Guest guest
Hi ; I did have the tests done at Genova Labs and my levels were all over the place but the overall average level put me right at the bottom of the " normal range " . I am post -menopausal and the levels do drop then. Anyway, Dr. P. recommended that i start the serenity cream. I use about the size of a pea on the end of my finger twice a day. I think that is the standard dose. The cream you ordered will come with a booklet... all kinds of good info there. Hope it helps you, Kind regards jane > > > Hi Jane, >  > thank you, .... Guest guest
Hi Mo; I guestimate the amount and hope that it is right. I have found that by doing it everyday you just take the same amount each time, I suppose if you wanted to be exact you could use a 1/4 teaspoon measuring spoon.I have been following your posts Mo, you sound as if you have been through the wars, How are you feeling? Kind regards Jane, > > Jane I have just started my first pot and am not at all sure how > much to use. ] >
Guest guest
I suppose you're right Jane, in that as long as it the same it should be OK. I am not even sure what size a pea is for Gawd's sake as I only ever use marrowfat ones and they probably mean the other sort Actually I think I may have a measuring spoon like you mention ina drawer somewhere...... I am getting there Jane, thanks for asking. Eating a very limited range of foods at the moment but getting used to it. Tried rice milk in decaff coffee earlier and it was not too bad at all. Guest guest
What I did was mark in my health diary when I expected the pot of cream to be half empty. When I got to that date I realised I had been overcautious about how much to use, so started using a bit more. It suggests using about the size of a pea, but it is quite a big pea! Miriam > > Jane I have just started my first pot and am not at all sure how > much to use. I found the instuctions about something like half the way up your nail on the back of your littel finger..... very confusing. How do you work it out? Guest guest
Oh thanks Miriam, that is really helpful to know. So I am alright then with a marrowfat's worth LOL Mo > > What I did was mark in my health diary when I expected the pot of > cream to be half empty. Guest guest
Some people advise to start cautiously because using natural progesterone causes the oestrogen receptors to become more sensitive. So some people initially have symptoms of excess oestrogen. I didn't find that to be the case, but then I am deficient in both oestrogen and progesterone. Guest guest
Hi , http://www.progesterone.co.uk will get you Serenity There are cheaper ones around, but for me they seemed far less effective- a jar will last between 2 to 3 months depending on how much you require. Yup! it does help with leaks! Subject: progesterone cream Hi, I've just been trawling through the mmessages and files and I think I need to get some progesterone cream ( I will o.k it with Dr P). Where does everyone who takes it on the forum get theirs from please.... and is there an organic one? UK supplier if poss (no credit card). I've just seen that it can help elleviate bladder problems too..... do I dare dream !!??!! julia
Guest guest
Ah well i haqve been trying to find this info so thank you Miriam, I am deficient in both too and I was wondering how I could possibly get symptoms of oestrogen dominance when I have ZERO oestrogen You have answered the question that has been bugging me for weeks. Many thanks. Mo p.s. I will now progress to a whole marrowfat from my estimated half! : > > Some people advise to start cautiously because using natural > progesterone causes the oestrogen receptors to become more sensitive. > So some people initially have symptoms of excess oestrogen.
