Hi,

I am in the process of filling out my patient info form. I have two

questions:

1. Did anyone contact their insurance company before they started

anything to find out if this is covered in your policy?

If they said no, did you still continue with all your paperwork,

etc.?

2. The patient letter is expected to be about 5 pages long. What are

the things you wrote about including the post-op exercise plan that took

up 5 pages? Does this include what your life has been obese?

Thanks in advance for any help. You guys are great!

Jean

>Hi Jean,

My name is Marie and my surgery date is 6/2. Go by the sample

patient letter and change it around to suit your situation and add

your own comments. Don't forget to write it in the third party.

I looked in my insurance book to make sure I didn't have an exclusion

in it about weight loss surgery. You can also call most companies

and they will tell you if have an exclusion!!! If it's an exclusion

you can always appeal. Good Luck & hope this helps!!

  • 3 years later...

hi gals,

i know i am repeating what a few have said about the weight gain/

weight lose issue ... but thought id throw a few cents in myself. i

was about 6 to 7 weeks post op when i found out that i was pregnant

and i am 5 months pregnant now with a heathly baby and pregnancy

and have lost a lil over 110lbs i am still FAT though i weigh about

290 lbs so my docs arent so worried they say the baby takes whatever

it needs whenever it wants it so as long as i keep food and drinks

and vititams down( that and my tests results are great)i am ok i am

also a diabetic pre pregnancy and everything is great i am my MFM

OB GYN 3rd wls patient and the closest to surgery he had before me

was 5 months post op and she delivered a health baby and good

pregnancy ... he is watching me closer because of my weight loss and

is trying to double and triple my calories which is not working but

he did stop all exercise because i was losing 5 to 10 lbs a week

now we are down to losing about 5 lbs every 2 weeks and hes ok with

that for now i know it is different for everyone because of how far

post op you are but i am sure that as long as you keep your foods

etc. down and you feel healthy and your tests are ok you will be

too ... good luck
