Guest guest
Wow PH, Thanks for listing that all out. That is really intense and interesting--and much that I did not know despite our communications about this. Did you buy a special wheatgrass juicer? One thing I was thinking just the other day is that we humans are so socialized to want delicious foods that melt in our mouth and that our taste buds crave. But like the old saying goes, one should eat to live, not live to eat. There is really nothing wrong with eating foods that don't taste good. It is not as fun, but when one thinks about it, what is the big deal. Eating is over pretty quickly anyway. So for example, intead of waking up and making eggs and toast (which is what I would want), I can wake up and juice cucumber and add some superfood greens mix and just re-frame in my head that food does not have to taste good. But also like you said, easier said than done. Good luck. It sounds like a great protocol that they have taught and laid out for you. > > > Hi All, > > > > Am back from Hippocrates and just wanted to share what they recommended > for all illness. Guest guest
Hi PH, Thank you so much for taking the time to share this with us. This is great information, and I plan to print this off myself and try to implement some of this. What will you be doing for wheatgrass? Will you grow it yourself? I have tried that and it worked well, but I had to really watch for mold. I found it once in my growing pan, near the base of the wheatgrass plants. That was freaky. Had to throw it all out. How did you like the sprouts? How were they served, besides in salads? What does your family think about this diet? It is a hard one to follow by yourself, while cooking meals for the rest of the family, but I know you can do it! Did you feel improvements while you were there? Thanks for keeping us updated on your healing journey! Sending hugs, Patty > > > Hi All, > > > > Am back from Hippocrates and just wanted to share what they recommended > for all illness. Guest guest
Hi , You're so right about food being a socialized tradition rather than what it was meant for...fuel and nutrients. The director of the program said the same thing. He said that once you get into the routine, you don't even think about it, you just do it. He asked us all to think about how much time we spend per day thinking, planning, shopping, preparing and eating food. It's ridiculous, especially when we spend so much time buying non-nutritious items and destroying most of the nutrients through cooking! Once you begin eating for health, it becomes so simple because all raw foods have all the enzymes and nutrients you need...less prep and planning. I personally feel I need the amino acids from cooked meat though, so I do that too. Taste buds change. I actually crave green juices now where I had to choke them down the first three months. Still working on liking salads. Sometimes I crave them but most of the time I feel burnt out. HHI says it's the only way to clean and nourish the blood though. No, I haven't bought a wheatgrass juicer. They recommend one w/ a twin auger. I had my books, papers and supplements shipped back to me but haven't received them yet. There are 3 websites on wheatgrass that they recommend and I'll post when I get my package. Guest guest
Hi Patty, I have a local source for wheatgrass and am looking into that. Never had a green thumb and so I won't even attempt growing it myself! HHI said you have to watch for mold. They keep their greenhouse cool for that reason. Some juice bars also sell wheatgrass shots although they are expensive. You can buy organic frozen wheatgrass from Whole Foods. I love it, although at HHI they said the nutrients are not as rich when frozen. I put the frozen cubes in my green juices and chomp on the " ice " at the end. Don't know if I'm really getting any value there but it's really refreshing. I love the sprouts. They serve them only in salads, other than sprouted buckwheat which is served raw for breakfast with buckwheat milk...very yummy! You can purchase raw buckwheat from HHI, add your own buckwheat milk (I use rice milk), add cinnamon and/or stevia and it's really good. For milks, it's ok to mix grains, but you wouldn't want to mix a nut milk w/ a grain...poor food combining. What does the family think? They know the value of this diet but we all have a hard time implementing it. My boys now prefer raw veggies over cooked but they still want bacon and anything with cheese or flour or sugar in it. My teen especially will whine, " Can't we just eat like normal people?!! " As far as improvements, I didn't notice anything physically. In fact, I felt worse at times to the point I was really scared...dizzy, headachey, seriously thought I might die (all the first symptoms I had 2 yrs ago), but I was detoxing a LOT!! The greatest thing I accomplished by going there is emotional and mental strength...they are PHENOMENAL at helping you deal w/ chronic illness and giving you tools that bring peace and hope. They said there is no reason why I shouldn't recover fully as long as I follow the diet and work at removing metals and candida (which, according to them, can be done w/ diet alone). The problem is, it's REALLY difficult to follow. However, I met quite a few people who had healed themselves of cancer by doing this diet...inspiring!! While there, I met 6 women w/ autoimmune illness and implants, although none of them knew there was a connection. The directors of the program stand strong that implants are dangerous and are even coming out w/ a bra line where you can put " implants " in the bra because they've seen so many sick women. All in all, an outstanding program. PH > > > > > > Hi All, > > > > > > > > Am back from Hippocrates and just wanted to share what they > recommended > > for all illness. Does it need to be soaked? Just to clarify--You are saying one can puchase bulk buckwheat from HHI by mail and then add your own rice milk at home -- and HHI considers this to be OK for breakfast? Patty wrote: Some juice bars also sell wheatgrass shots although they are expensive. Response From : I have actually found that the cost of a double wheatgrass shot made at the WF juice bar ($5.00) yields the same amount of wheatgrass juice that I get when I buy at a 2 ounce bag of wheatgrass at WF for $4.99 and juice it at home in the Champion juicer (which is not the ideal juicer for wheatgrass but does work). Hence, it is easier for me to do the WF juice bar, although I cannot spread it out to have 3 wheatgrass juices per day. I am typically at WF once per day. Guest guest
Hi , Yes, buckwheat is gluten-free. It is sprouted by rinsing it in a sprouting bag, although I buy it already sprouted from HHI. I should have showed you it in the health store when we met...sorry!!! HHI recommends using buckwheat milk which is made by soaking the buckwheat overnight. Others use plain water which tastes the same. Yes, HHI said it was ok to use a non-sweetened brown rice milk and add stevia and cinnamon. They only recommend the cooked grains (millet, quinoa) for those who need to gain weight. With the raw buckwheat, some people let theirs soak in the buckwheat milk for about 20 minutes depending on how soft they wanted their cereal. I like mine crunchy so I didn't. Guest guest
Thanks PH, The reason I asked is that I can't imagine only eating raw veggies and salads indefinitely--would like to break it up a little on occasion--I'm still iffy about the manna bread as to how OK it is to have sprouted wheat. I may call HHI and see if they can ship a bag or two of the buckwheat to me. Also, I looked through the Oasis Therapy Center pamphlet you gave me. The treatments sound so wonderful. I wished I could do them all...It didn't say anything about having to be staying there to get a treatment, so I may call and ask. If one doesn't have to stay there for a treatment, I think I am going to do the therapy/EMDR and maybe the H-Wave. Will let you know. Thanks, > > Hi , > > Yes, buckwheat is gluten-free. Guest guest
PH, You always write such wonderful informative letters. Chock full of all kinds of good info! I'm not surprised at your reaction while at HHI. On the Gerson therapy, which is similar, I had those intense detox reactions too. It sure stirs up stuff. Aamzing that you met 6 women there with implants/autoimmunity, and no knowledge of the connection. Sad, very sad, too. I am sure you helped open their eyes. It makes you wonder just how many women are sick from their implants and don't know it. I bet there are thousands upon thousands. For you to meet 6 at that one week alone speaks volumes. How many people do they have the ability to treat at one time at the clinic? It sure sounds like it was a wonderful respite for you and Hailey...how is she doing? I have not heard from her. Guest guest
Hi Patty, HHI can treat up to 150 at one time. I only had 40 in my group. The food and services were plentiful but I can't imagine them having the capacity to handle more. They say that summer is the best time to go because it's less crowded (but the heat is intense!!). Peak time is over the holidays (Nov-Jan 1). It's sad, even after sharing our stories, most of the women w/ the implants found every reason in the book not to believe there is a connection. They were soooooo concerned w/ being flat chested. Many said " but I had a couple symptoms before " or " but the FDA says... " or " but I can't have a flat chest " while they can barely function!!! Most were in situations where their relationships and jobs are crumbling due to their health, yet they won't give up the implants. Poor Hailey is hanging in there. She's dealing w/ stomach issues that I am praying will be resolved soon for her sake. She told me how when she fasts, all symptoms resolve, so she'll probably do another.
