Guest guest
[MGB-PostOp] 4-week checkup Today was my 4-week checkup and I am thrilled to report that I have lost 28 lbs. My BP was 136/76 and sugar under 100. I am off of two BP meds, 1 diabetes med, 2 sleeping meds, arthritis pain meds, and have switched from estrogen to soy products. I am mostly feeling great except for migraine headaches which continue as before the surgery. The doctor changed me from Imitrix to Zomig today--said he thought it would be better as I had been on Imitrix for 7 years and was getting rebound headaches. I am mostly on liquids, smoothies and yogurt, but have tried bites of everything and nothing hurts and it all tastes good! I have tried ham, chicken, shrimp, brisket, pizza, lasagna, several salads, corn, blackeyed peas, green beans, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, ice cream sandwich, and pie. Now, I am not eating these routinely, just about 1 level teaspoonful at a time, but it sits just fine. I have also had small bowls or raisen bran and skim milk for breatfast, and oatmeal. Everything is wonderful, but I don't want much, and sure can't eat much. Absolutely nothing has bothered me. I am doing water aerobics and weight training 5 days a week now and it feels so good. My only problem, besides the headaches, is that my energy is not what I think it should be, but part of that is because I can't sleep well when the headaches attack. Other than that I am sleeping really well for the first time in my life. I don't understand the changes that happened so quickly. It was like overnight! My husband is calling me his new wife, and has everyone in our church calling me that. He says my apnea has all but disappeared also. Is Dr. R a magician? My doctor had hired a new nurse, who actually made me look small, and she asked me a dozen questions about the surgery and wrote my name and address to call me for additional information. She was really interested. My doctor just beamed, gave me a great big hug and told me to get out of there and go have some fun!!! I have been smiling all day!!! I too am getting the " You just glow! " comments and my hubby tells me that my countenance has completely changed. I guess for the first time in years I have HOPE and it surely does feel good!!!
