Guest guest
Hello. I've had my 4 year old Autistic son on the diet for 21/2 weeks. He had really bad runny stools before. After 1 week his stools got solid for only 2 days then went runny again. Is this normal? Am I giving too much grape juice?or bananas? He gets maybe 1/2 cup diluted juice in the morning with his supplements and 1 banana thats it. Also all he'll eat is nut flour pancakes or egg pancakes and steak and chicken, that is it. Is that ok for the beginning? I use almonds that have the skins on them, I saw that you should use the ones without skins where do you get those? and he will NOT eat yogart at all. He has issues with textures. Is it ok to give it to him in a smoothie or in the pancakes? I can't even force it into his mouth because he spits it back out. Thanks for the help!!!!! Is that ok for the beginning? Sounds like you need more veggies & fruit. If he won't eat veggies straight up there is a recipe for veggie pancakes at http://www.pecanbread.com/recipes.html under " Pancakes " . > use almonds that have the skins on them, I saw that you should use the > ones without skins where do you get those? I can buy them in the baking section of my grocery store. Also health food store. The skins may be too rough for his gut right now. and he will NOT eat yogart > at all. He has issues with textures. Yes you can use it in a smoothie. Did you gradually increase the amounts of the yoghurt? Guest guest
Hi Tammy, > >Did you add anything different at that point? > > No, he was eating alot of pancakes made from almond flour. It may be die off but may also be too much almond flour. If you can it may be a good idea to back off some with the almond flour to see if that helps alleviate some of the runny stools. If die off, you can also try giving epsom salt baths - many have found them to be especially helpful at the beginning of the diet when die off seems bad for many ASD kids. > > > Am I giving too much grape juice?or bananas? > > > He only gets maybe 1/2 cup of grape juice in the morning with supplements > and 1 bananna, but I backed off the bananna and now only give him 1/2 a day > and they are really ripe. > > > >Did you change the amounts of these? Elaine said that three to four eggs/day is okay. Some find that eggs on their own worsen diarrhea - baked into soemthing seems to be tolerated better. Is the zucchini peeled? > He has only had 1 cup of yogart that I put into a pancake mix. He wont eat yogurt at all. So he really hasn't had any plain jogurt just the cup I put in the pancakes. I know you start out slow and then move up but I'll try the smoothie and see if he'll eat it. I made the " ice cream " and he wouldn't even touch it!!!! It probably wouldn't be a bad thing to wait on the yogurt until his stools firm up at least a little. And then go slow - it is strong stuff - very good but strong.
