Guest guest
Hi, My name is Tony and I am 's husband. wanted me to send a note about how things went in surgery today. So here goes: We arrived at the hospital a half hour late due to a flat tire. We got there at 9:00 am. Checkin was very efficient, and she was ready to go to the OR at 11:15 - her scheduled time was 11:30. I was in the waiting room (actually the lobby) until Dr. R. came at 12:45 to tell me the results. came thru just fine. The anesthesia did not cause any problems. The ports were inserted just fine. All internal organs that could be seen with the scope were normal. The surgery went off without a hitch. She was in recovery until 2:00, when they brought her, bed and all, to her room. She looked pretty good for a surgery patient. She was tired, but coherent. She had some discomfort from the gas that they pumped into her abdomin, but she said it was more discomfort than pain. Nevertheless, she requested some pain medication and chose a demeral injection. It helped for a little while, but after a couple hours she wanted more. She had to wait for 2 more hours before she could have another dose. At that time she chose a self administered pump with demeral. She felt better about getting smaller doses more frequently, and that she was in control of the pump. I was with her until about 8:45 pm. She had been to the bathroom 3 times by then, and had done a lap of the halls on her wing. She is hoping to come home tomorrow. More to come.
