Guest guest
Hi to everybody and especially Sue G. who also had surgery 4/25. (I think there were 2 others but I didn't see them.) Hope you're all doing well. My experience was a very good one. The 5th floor staff was prompt at answering my calls and also friendly and supportive. I don't remember too much about the recovery room but I have no negative impressions from my stay there. As to my recovery, I did have the usual gas pain and remember mumbling to my husband " I just want to burp " over and over. By 8:00 p.m., after walking a little and having a demoral shot, I felt much better and slept a good bit. My surgery was scheduled for 10:30 and was actually performed at 11:30 - not too bad. I went home (live in the Triangle area) at about the same time the next day. On Thurs. and Fri., I had significant gas pain - in retrospect I don't think I walked enough - but it has subsided now with use of mylanta and by walking more. I do have a tendency to eat too fast which led to a little wave of cramping so I'm careful about that. As of now, I feel good and eager to move forward! All I've eaten so far have been juices, sugarless jello and nonfat yogurt and have not felt hungry. My head looks at my husband's treats and sends me some slight tempting urges - out of habit I think because I find them easy to resist and feel no strong craving. Hope it continues! I saw the good Dr. R Tues. a.m. pre op and Wed. a.m. and had the opportunity to ask ?s. He also spoke promptly with my husband after the 38 minute procedure. Since I'm 50 and had a hysterectomy previously, I felt great about the time. Whew - I guess that's all for now - I hope I haven't rambled too much! I wish everyone the very best and am just so thrilled to have this chance at a better life!
