Guest guest
I found out at the doctor's office yesterday that I'm not only anemic (which I knew), but my iron stores are 0.0 (ferritin). Does anyone have any thoughts as to what I should do? I've seen it recommended here not to take iron because the body may be hoarding it, but my body doesn't even seem to be hoarding it. I also don't generally care for taking pills, but this may be one instance where I really need to. I've had a few more natural type supplements recommended to me, but I wanted to check here first because y'all know a lot about iron, etc. I'm already eating a good amount of red meat and eggs and occasionally liver (I'm willing to do that more, if it would help). Thanks! Steph - whole family 6 weeks SCD. DS3 celiac, DS7 celiac/aspie, me Aspie, and DH.

The SCD Freeda multi vitamins are iron free. Eating a citrus fruit at the same meal as egg increases iron absorption. The following " SCD legal " vegetables are good sources of iron. Peas Avocado Kale Spinach Broccoli Squash - summer Squash - winter Carrots Mushrooms Carol F. SCD 5 years, celiac
