Robynn,

A couple of months ago, someone posted a web site for ABC - I think a 20/20

archive with a report with Sam son on the Fobi procedure.

They interviewed bariatric surgeons from med ctr UCLA regarding the

complications they have had to try to repair problems with the silastic ring

creating scar tissue and totally closing off the opening to the intestines.

They had a patient they were following who was extremely ill and Dr Fobi said

something to the effect that she should be happy with the good weight loss and

she wasn't eating properly.

The surgeons at UCLA said the procedure was not FDA approved and in their

opinion, with good reason. They weren't sure if they could repair this young

girl at all satisfactorily until they got inside. It was absolutely scary and

the nonchalance Fobi showed for a patient extremely ill with complications

certainly made me glad I wasn't going there.

I had talked to them, but when they found out I was with an HMO, they wouldn't

even deal with me except on cash basis only - and quoted from $40,000 - $60,000.

Anyway, perhaps whoever posted that site is still on the list and could repost

it. I had saved it, but when I bought my new computer, they didn't transfer any

info and I lost everything. BACK UP - BACKUP BACKUP

Re: Approved, but not for Dr. R

Thanks Shari,

He has a clinic on Monday, I plan to attend but also plan to be armed with

lots of questions, I really wanted Dr. R. If I can find a way to do this I

will. I will e-mail you when I think of some of the questions if you don't

mind. It has been a long day so I am off to bed.

Good night all, and thank you.

Robynn
