I think this may be the key, it sounds like these doctors are afraid that we

are going to hold them responsible for OUR decisions. We should be telling

them, I have decided to take the advice of the NIH and every other major

study on obesity and have a gastric bypass. I have decided on this procedure

because..... I need a PCP who is willing to monitor my lab work and give me

an annual physical, are you willing to do that? Then if they start in on how

gastric bypass surgery is wrong, etc... you can say, Oh, I have already

reached MY decision, now I am just looking for a doctor that will monitor my

lab work post operatively and will write a letter to Dr. R telling him they

will do that!
