Guest guest
Lynn, It's probably too early in the diet to be adding those things into your menu. Try to stick with easy-to-digest foods like squashes (cooked, peeled), green beans, ripe bananas, applesauce, pear sauce, peeled and well-cooked fruits, avocados, well-cooked carrots, meats and eggs for right now. I know it may seem dull and dreary, but check out pecanbread.com for some interesting recipes made from minimal ingredients. Chicken pancakes, sneaky veggie pancakes, banana pancakes, are a few that come to mind. http://www.pecanbread.com/foodprep.html http://www.pecanbread.com/recipes.html Jody mom to -6 and -8 SCD 31 months

Guest guest
Enzymes might really help... or maybe start a little more slowly - go back to the intro diet for a couple of days and start off with mostly protein and add the more bland, easy to digest cooked veggies like squash, carrots, and cooked fruit like home made applesauce... but higher protein diet at first should really help. My son is 5 and has UC - he does best on mostly protein though the veggies no longer bother him. Robbie I'm new, and need help with SCD! I have Ulcerative Colitis, and have just started with the SCD program (about 8 days) , and have a food concern. All of the good cruciferous veggies give me stool problems with cramping and gas, so I am having trouble incorporating them into the plan. I want to stick to this diet 100% (and plan to, no matter what!), but all of the stuff used to flavor the foods, like onions, garlic, peppers, cabbage and tomatoes give me tummy trauma! I want full course, delicious (and nutritious) foods! Any suggestions? Is this something that my constitution may get used to? I need ideas!! I am confident this diet will work for me, since nothing else ever has! Many thanks- Lynn For information on the Specific Carbohydrate Diet, please read the book _Breaking the Vicious Cycle_ by Elaine Gottschall and read the following websites: http://www.breakingtheviciouscycle.info and http://www.pecanbread.com
