Guest guest
If you would read her letter again you will see that she is not on medicaid..she was denied by her insurance and the suggestion of medicaid was made to her and accepted with a difference of 500 bucks payment between insurance and medicaid payments. My only concern was why not go ahead and pay the $500 difference. Read carefully before making remarks...thats what causes so many ruffled hen feathers on the board
Guest guest
I see your point BROOKSLAW1, but I am the hypothetical situation that I threw out to the group. I do have Medicaid. My ruffled feathers are from the fact that it is what happened on Monday of this week when I called to set my appointment for surgery. Guest guest
Dear , One thing that struck me odd was if $500 is such a bone of contention with her and the surgery, why didn't she come up with the difference? I bet if I needed $500 my family or friends would come through for me. I can't imagine not having the MGB for a $500 difference. I would have a garage sale, bake sale, ask my church to help or something to raise the money. As far as Dr. R, this is his livelihood and I am sure he has bills and expenses and he has to draw the line somewhere. He did tell her that he would reconsider accepting her medicare/medicaid after about six months. The thing that seems to keep getting lost is Dr. Rutledge is only human. He is subject to the same daily struggles with life. Granted he may have the resources to have someone do his yardwork or clean his house or whatever.....but he has paid his dues. He had to work hard to get through medical school and someone had to pay for it. Whether it was Dr.R or his family or student loans or his hard work to earn scholorships or whatever. My point is it takes a lot of money to get through college, medical school, set up a practice and pay salaries and overhead. There is no reason for anyone to expect him to lose money. He is a gracious and compassionate man regardless of what she said. It is my opinion that she was expecting too much. If she wants the MGB then maybe she needs to work a little harder at obtaining it. $500 is not insurmountable. I think she is a cop out. I will gladly accept all flame throwing. Just my opinion, Genz Boingy300@... wrote: > I,too was bugged by the post of the nurse who was on Medicaid and denied by > Dr.R. Guest guest
Genz: Please don't shoot me either. But concerning the nurse who had medicaid. I may be wrong however, my understanding of medicaid is that the doctor must be willing to accept what medicaid pays them. If they were to charge a fee on top of that it is considered medicaid fraud and that is not a good thing. So it is not a matter of coming up with an additional $500 dollars on her part. Please don't shoot me, I'm just trying to explain. Darlene

Guest guest
Dear Darlene, Thanks for the explanation, it is a point that I didn't consider because I'm not familiar with medicaid. I would never shoot you or be mad at you, I don't mean anyone any harm. I just thought it very strange that $500 would keep someone from having this surgery. If additional payment on top of what medicaid pays is considered fraud then I stand corrected. If it is not fraud or in any other way illegal I still feel the same way. I'm not an attorney but there are several on this list. Maybe they have a take on this. It still seems strange to me. All the Best, Genz Young wrote: > Genz: > Please don't shoot me either.
