Guest guest
Hey all, My name is Zia. I've been looking for support for my decision to explant, and found this group. I've had my 375cc saline implants for 4.5 years, and November 9, 2009 is my explant date. If anyone has any tips or words of encouragement, I'd appreciate it. Thanks, Z
Guest guest
Hi Zia, Welcome to our group. I apologize that it has taken so long for you to receive a reply. I have been out of town for about 4 days and am trying to get caught up on my work. But I did want to answer your questions! It is important to receive support as you go through this process. I know that I was scared when making this decision, and having other women to communicate with during it was vital to me. That is why I have stayed involved in this issue through all these years, though I've become a bit occupied in recent years with living a full life once again. But I do care...you need to know that. Can I ask you why you are explanting? Have you been quite ill? I believe that if you have been ill, explanting is the very best thing you can do for yourself. It is pretty clear that implants do not contribute in any way toward better health, and in fact, can prevent good health in the long run. So, if you have experienced some devastating health issues, or even some minor ones, explanting relieves your body of the burden it has been carrying, and allows you the best chance to feel good again. I will be the first one to admit that it is hard to make that decision, but once you have, it is so important to stay positive and look toward a better future. It is not guaranteed that you will have an immediate healing, but alot of women feel better right away in some ways, while the major healing process can take several years. It took me about 4 years to get fully better to where I could live a normal life once again. We have plenty of files in our files section on explanting, regarding the process, what questions to ask your surgeon, tips on how to prepare for surgery and how to navigate the healing process after surgery. The most important aspect of explant surgery is that you have it done RIGHT. This means that you have an en bloc removal, or a total capsulectomy upon explant. These terms simply refer to the fact that the scar tissue is removed along with the implants. You do not want any of that nasty scar tissue remanining in your body, as it can harbor silicone degradation products, oils, and colonies of bacteria, fungus and other stuff that is better out of you than in. Most plastic surgeons poo-poo the idea that a total capsule removal is necessary, but we know otherwise, through the experiences of many women, as well as the expert advice of a number of professionals that there are risks in the long term if those capsules are not removed. Please check the files and look for that important informtion regarding explant. Please let me know if you need help finding the files, and after you have read them, if you have further questions. We want to help. Your surgery will be here soon enough....please let us know for sure that you have discussed the need for capsule removal with your doctor. If he does not agree to it, then you should find a different surgeon to do this surgery for you. Warmly, Patty > > Hey all, My name is Zia. Guest guest
Thank you for your reply! I've been super busy at work, so I haven't had much time to keep up on anything! As far as having problems: I've had a lot of muscle pains (back and neck) and weird rashes that come and go on my chest over the last several months. I've also been having these sharp electrical feeling pains that shoot out from under my breasts and radiates into my armpits. I've been tearing my chest muscles when I lift heavy things and I'd like to be able to move around without having to be aware of where my implants are so I don't squish them the wrong way in a hug, or so I don't lift something the " wrong " way. I had not discussed the removal of the scar tissue with my surgeon at all - I'd read in other forums that it was only neccessary if you have silicone filled implants or if the scar tissue is really thick. This will be something I bring up at my next appointment with him. I still have a hard time coping with my own decision to remove the implants as my surgeon did a superb job in the first place, and a few people have even told me what a " shame " it is to remove them. I have fears that I won't be pretty, or I may not get a gig (I'm a singer, and the implants are hindering my singing, so that's the biggest reason they're coming out) because I won't have that double-d " edge " anymore, but I do have quite a few people who are on my side and giving me support, including my vocal coaches, who are encouraging me to do what's best for my body, for my singing, and that the rest will fall into place. Some days are better than others, but as the date gets closer, I feel better about my decision. Thanks again for your help! Z > > > > Hey all, My name is Zia.
