Guest guest
Hi all, My children (Abi-6yrs-ADHD & Isaac-3yrs-ASD) have been SCD for 20 months with good results initially. However after some time they began having setbacks. In September we added LOD to our list of restrictions and have seen more improvements. However, they are still excessively active and babbling all to often. To get better cooperation (it worked), we jumped right into SCD so I never introduced fruits/veggies separately to check for reactions. I thought I would try to do an alternative (SCD/LOD) intro over the Christmas break to check for phenol reactions, etc. I just reread BTVC and looked at the stages of introduction on Pecanbread trying to see how I could work it out w/ our LOD restrictions. I guess my main reason for doing the intro would be to see if they may have problems w/ phenols but the lists are confusing to me. They are currently eating: chicken/lamb/beef/turkey/bison golden delicious apples/green grapes/melons/avocados/coconut/bananas winter squashes/cauliflower/peas/zucchini/cucumbers/red peppers eggs/coconut oil& milk and olive oil and spices, etc. I think that is it. Today I gave them chicken broth and they were okay but I know I need to give them something more substantial tomorrow. I was going to try and do broth and chicken and a veggie but didn't know where to start because I am not sure which ones would be the lowest in phenols. I didn't see avocados on the stages list. Any ideas? Would pureed peas or cauliflower be okay? what about avocado? I think I remember that coconut was high phenol - right? Also, if phenols were a problem, how long would it take to get it out of the system so I could see if they were having a reaction to a particular food? No noted improvements today w/ 24 hours of no phenolic foods. I know this is poor planning as I have less than a week until they return to school. Any insight or ideas would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. whole family SCD 20 months LOD 3 months
