Hendrix, president, and Cale, vice president of Unlocking

Autism discuss efforts to help families of children with an autism spectrum

disorder whose lives have been badly disrupted by the tragedy in the South.

Note from Unlocking Autism:

As Unlocking Autism reaches out to help families in the Gulf Area Disaster,

we are humbled at all those who have joined with us in this endeavor.

Numerous autism list serv groups and organizations across the nation have

posted our appeal letter, and we are receiving phone calls around the clock

from people outside of the autism community who want to donate because they

know a family touched by autism.

Families across the nation have called and e-mailed to offer room in their

homes to families who lost their home in this disaster. We hope to be able

to connect the families with need with the families who are willing to

share, as well as distribute financially to these families through the

generosity of others.

We ask that you continue to help UA spread the word that we are collecting

donations and that 100% of what we collect will be distributed to the

families in need. We also ask for your prayers for all the people affected

by this disaster.
