Jody,

I'm interested in the thermos comment. Which kinds and sizes do you

have? What do you find to be most useful? Do you put things like

lambchops or chicken in them? I just looked on

http://thermos.smartermall.com and got overwhelmed... (it doesn't

take much these days :)

Thanks,

Cindy

Cindy,

You can get better prices at WalMart and Target...

The 16oz containers are about $15 and the 10oz containers are about

$10. The brief case bottles were $15 I believe.

But here's what I have:

4-16oz vaccuum food thermoses

4-10oz vaccuum food thermoses

2-16oz brief case bottles

(I have 2 kids.)

We can go on a full-day trip with these and have lots of food.

As for what I have put in them... everything from spaghetti, soup,

fried chicken, steak, vegetables (hot), to things like ice cream and

cold foods. (I don't know exactly how long the ice cream would stay

frozen, but we've kept it frozen for at least 30 minutes -long enough

to drive to where everyone was going out for ice cream).

We prime the Thermoses (as the directions explain) and then we put the

food directly from the pan into the Thermos and put the lid on

immediately. I have packed soup this way and opened the Thermos 6

hours later to find the soup STEAMING still.

The Thermoses are a great way to pack food for school lunches because

it allows you to send anything rather than having to try to come up

with room temp or cold foods all the time.

We find them very useful for being able to go out on day trips without

worrying about food.

And no, I don't get any kickbacks for supporting Thermos...LOL.

:)
