Guest guest
HI , WHEN you say Ontario do you mean Canada? If so I buy my nut flour at the bulk barn and they also carry pecan meal and hazelnut and walnut. I have asked about the pecan and the lady said it was just pecan. The nut flour states it is almond (ground). Yes it is expensive it would be nice if we could claim it or have some assistants from our government. Toni Question to Ontario parents, from newbie Dear Ontario parents I'm just starting the SCD with my son who is 4.8 yo and affected by ASD. I think we're facing an immediate road block: Currently he's not eating too much illegal foods since we eliminated all Gluten, casein, soy, sugar, corn and we're following Feingold as well. The big parts we need to work on his diet are rice, potato (fries, a big food for him), and pancake made from Bob's redmill rice flour. I'm looking for the nuts flour for the replacement by shopping around the local health food stores. I asked for Hazelnuts, macadamia Nuts,Pecans, walnuts, Brazil nuts Cashews etc. I was shocked: they are so expensive, I don't think an average income family can afford it on regular basis. So my question is that does anyone know a cheaper resource in Ontario/GTA to get these nuts and flour? or any mail order you know? (Almond is a bit cheaper but its out of scope due to phenol issue.) I also noticed that except almond comes with the flour format, all other nuts are of either halves or chips. The staff told me that it's very difficult to get them into flour since its so oily, is that true? Once we can overcome these 2 issues I think it would be much easier to carry on with this diet. Thanks for your wonderful advices, can't image how can we do this diet without the support form this list. yl For information on the Specific Carbohydrate Diet, please read the book _Breaking the Vicious Cycle_ by Elaine Gottschall and read the following websites: http://www.breakingtheviciouscycle.info and http://www.pecanbread.com

" Rice " can be made of grated cauliflower cooked in chicken stock (homemade) Carol F. Toronto, Celiac, SCD 5 years
