Unfortunatley there are no shortcuts when getting rid of the indigestible starch in beans. Carol F. Toronto, Celiac, SCD 5 years
Guest guest
if you have a pressure cooker there is not need for soaking the beans. You just wash them, put some water and cooked them acording the direction of you pressure cooker. My mom usually cooks a 1lb bag of bean this way,and them she freeze them in serving size containers, mark the day and we use it as we need it. If you do not have a pressure cooker, you could soak the beans in enough water to cover overnigh, then darin inthe morning. Then in the moring bring water and the beans to boil, once boiling reduce the heat to medium tem, cover and simmer until tender, you may need to add more water depending on the quality of the beens. I really recommed you to get a pressure cooker, it is more faster. Once the beans are done my mom seasoned with cilantro, onion, garlic, salt, green pepper and a little tomatoe paste, but all depend if you child can tolerated this. Anyhow I hope this help. If not I am sure other ideas will come in. is the quick prep method for beans - bringing them to a boil, let them sit for an hour, then cook - effective in making beans easily digestible? After that they can be cooked. When I have done it I soak them overnight 8-10 hrs or if going to put them in the crockpot overnight I start soaking them first thing in the morning. Guest guest
Hi Ana, > if you have a pressure cooker there is not need for soaking the beans. You just wash them, put some water and cooked them acording the direction of you pressure cooker. My mom usually cooks a 1lb bag of bean this way,and them she freeze them in serving size containers Even if you use a pressure cooker the beans will still have to be soaked for 8-10 hrs and rinsed before cooking. The soaking pulls out 3 indigestible starches out of the beans and the rinsing washes them away. > Once the beans are done my mom seasoned with cilantro, onion, garlic, salt, green pepper and a little tomatoe paste, Also, commercial tomato paste is SCD illegal. Homemade tomato paste is fine. Sheila, SCD 57 mos, 21 yrs UC mom of , SCD 42 mos
