Hi All,

Just got back from my 3 week check up with my PCP. He and I are both very

pleased with my success so far.

I have lost 18 lbs and have not taken my diabetes meds since before my

surgery. I am on a low dose of Accupril, and my blood pressure was normal.

It was a bit high at my one week check up, and he put me back on the Accupril.

I started out in a tight size 28 and now am in a tight 26! I am having to

pull my slacks and shorts up as the waist is sliding down already and my

blouses are feeling looser already. I won't take my measurements until I'm

one month post-op, so I don't know for sure how many inches I've lost, but I

can tell I've lost. The most visible place I'm showing a loss is of course

my face. I've been told that not only does it look slimmer, but that I

absolutely glow! I must say that I feel that glow from the inside! I am so

thankful for this surgery.

I'm learning (sometimes the hard way) to remember to eat slowly, chew well

and not gulp! I have moved fairly quickly to regular foods and that seems to

have helped my constant thirst. I guess I'm not getting as much sugar as I

was with the liquids. I'm having a protein/fruit smoothy a day and focusing

on eating mainly protein with a little carbs each day. I have found that I

can tolerate broiled/grilled chicken breast very well, as well as scrambled

egg. I enjoy cottage cheese and string cheese, so those are staples too. I

can tolerate noodles and bread (flatbread, tortilla, wheat toast) better than

potatoes and rice.

I've also just introduced salad to my diet and to my surprise it's sitting

very well! I've never been a big salad person, so I'm hoping to become one.

I keep hearing everyone say how they crave veggies and I hope that happens to

me. So far I crave protein (and diet pepsi ha ha). Yesterday though, we

went to the Olive Garden for lunch after church. I ordered salad and Pasta

Fagiole (sp?) and it was wonderful! I had two small servings of salad, my

soup and half a bread stick. I am still working on learning when to stop

eating. I finished my bowl of soup (old message tapes in my head I guess)

even though I thought I was getting full and was really uncomfortable!

Last week was an interesting week. I started on my vitamins, but I also

started my cycle. I was exhausted the whole week! All I did was take

to school and come home and sleep! Two days I literally slept the whole day

away, I just had no energy. I'm sure it was due to loss of iron. Does bring

home the concept of why we can't donate blood though! < > This week I'm

more energetic.

All in all, I'm doing quite well, feel good and I'm looking forward to my

next visit to the Dr. to get on his scale (I never could have said THAT

before lol!)

How about a Littermate Rollcall... how are you Ladies doing? I know Theresa

has been having a rough time of it. You are in my prayers my friend. Please

let me know how you are doing. To Sharon, Tonni, and Bonnie...are

you back to work yet? How are you feeling?

To all the preops! Keep fighting for your insurance approval and getting

your paperwork together. I would do this surgery again in a heartbeat!
