Guest guest
Ahhhhhhhhhhhh........the gummy bears have more platinum, I believe to thicken the silicone further. I have known a few gals that reacted rather quickly to them.........got seriously ill.........ck out Gretchen's site, myimplantstory.com . There are many people very ill from them........... Thank you for not getting implants, and for working to keep women from going thru more than they need to. Have a lovely evening ~ Dede Gummy Bear option Hi All, I am one of the women who had a bilateral mastectomy, did my fact finding, and chose not to implant. Thank you for your informative group. You have taught me a lot. Now, I am active on a support group for breast cancer. There, the women often arrive just after they get a questionable mammogram or they find us later after their biopsy. Anyway, they are often in the process of deciding about implants. I don't think the medical profession is giving them all the facts. The women want a safe and beautiful answer. They are so hopeful and uninformed...so they go ahead and follow the first thing that the plastic surgeon suggests...expanders and soon-to-follow implants. I try to tell them to seek more information, but they say all the "trouble" is with the older generation of implants. They think the gummy bear type is trouble free. Have any of you ladies experienced the body aches, finger tingling, fatigue, etc. from a reaction to the gummy bear type? My thought is that the cover is STILL in contact with the body...it's STILL made of silicone and metal...the body STILL starts to reject it...side effects STILL show up. Are any of the photos in our group photo area taken of gummy bear type implants? (I don't see that they have been labeled with saline or silicone...It would be more informative if that were included and the date of implant and the date of explant.) Sometimes a picture is worth a thousand words :-) Thank you. Hugs of Support, M.
Guest guest
Hi , The gummy bear implant is no different than any other implant in terms of risk. How many times have we heard over the past 4 decades that there is a " new and improved " implant, only to find out that they do as much or more damage as the last one? Let's see, there was the silicone gel implant, followed by the bilumen implant, the textured implant, the Dacron patch implant, the saline implant, the soybean oil implant, and now the gummy implant....all with a silicone shell....you are right....the shell is a big source of the trouble regardless of what is on the inside. One of our members that I am still in touch with is Gretchen Cannon, who was one of the first to receive the new silicone gel implants after their approval around this time several years ago. She got sick immediately. RIGHT AWAY. And she was so sick she lost her job and needed her parents to care for her. Her story can be seen at www.myimplantstory.com Gretchen underwent two surgeries at explant...one to remove the implant, and later to remove the capsule because the first doctor did not do it. She got totally better! Recently, she had a setback after taking some Cipro for a UTI, reminding us that we need to be careful about our exposures always. Thanks for all your efforts to share the truth about the dangers of implants. Keep up the good work. I agree that some labeling may be helpful, and when I can find the time to check into it, I may try to fix that. God bless, Patty > > Hi All, > I am one of the women who had a bilateral mastectomy, did my fact finding, and chose not to implant. > Thank you for your informative group.
