Guest guest
I have had problems with my implants for sometime now but over the past month somehow one of my implants ruptured to the point of being noticeable and two sizes smaller than the left one. I went in to my well known plastic surgeon in Dallas and he seemed uncaring and only out to make more money off of me. He said my two options were to get them redone and replace the implants or have him poke a hole in the left one and drain it so they are the same. Once procedure costs over 6 grand an amount I do not have being a single mother with an autistic child. My other option is to have him destroy the other one and they will be even but they will still leave the silicone based shell in my body and this will cost me around $100 dollars not including the ridiculous consultation fee I already had to pay. I am unsure what to do but since I act/model part time I need to get them even soon or I will be out of work. I had to do a job the other day with them like this and it was extremely difficult and embarrassing even though I told them the situation. I have no financial resources to pull from or I would get a lawyer. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
Guest guest
Sounds like you are in the same pickle many of us are or have been in. Your best bet with best result would be to have them removed enbloc with use of drain tubes. Do you have health insurance ? What other problems do you have with your breasts ? any lumps or pain ? if so, then insurance should help with your proceedure......... I would not see that doc again.............he is deceptive.........and only told you what he was willing to do, not what your real options and the safest options were. Go see Dr Melmed there in Dallas ( if that is where you live ) . Write him and he will respond. EMelmed@.... He is good and he is kind....ask he do it enbloc..... Hugs and Prayers to you ! Guest guest
Hi there, What a very difficult situation to be in. I am sorry to hear this happened to you! Especially being a single mother with an autistic child, and needing to work, based on how you look. It certainly sounds like the doctor you saw is not making this any easier for you. Have you seen Dr. Ed Melmed in Dallas? He is a doctor that is very compassionate and kind and we often recommend him for explant because he is understanding of the issues we have faced. If you have not seen him yet, then that would be my first suggestion. He may offer you some other options that are more realistic or palatable to you. In the end, my thoughts are that you would need to pursue en bloc removal of the implants so that you can be free of these kinds of problems in the long run, as well as protect your future health. I would never suggest that you allow the saline contents of the implant to be released into your body (they could be contaminated with various organisms--by the way, how long have you had your implants?) But in your situation, since you need an immediate answer to your problem so you can work, it might be prudent to allow the doctor to use a needle to aspirate the contents of both implants out of the body to make them even. This will keep you working, which is your immediate need. In the meantime, I would suggest that you seriously start saving money for the future surgery to get those shells out, because you do not want those left in your body. Of course, it would be preferable to just get the whole explant done properly right away, with implants (contents and shell) and the scar capsules removed completely from your body. But unless you can borrow the funds from family or friends, or get a loan to cover the cost, it sounds like this is a surgery you will have to put off for a bit longer. I hope this helps give you some options to think about. I wish you the best in your situation! Please keep us posted on your outcome, especially if you see Dr. Melmed. We always like feedback on our doctors that we've suggested.
