We were dealing with a hunger strike of sorts ourselves that is hopefully over. My son really misses crunchy stuff. Dried fruit, like crispy dried apples, is too sweet for his taste. Some things he likes, until he's sick of them, are cheese crackers made out of the onion-parmesan bread recipe on p. 69 of Lucy's Cookbook, and cheese crackers, p. 122 of Adventures in the Family Kitchen (the other cookbook from Lucy's Kitchen). A modified form of the second recipe can also be found on the scdrecipes site but I don't have internet access so can't find it for you. It has cheese, almond flour, oregano, cayenne pepper, oil, and water, and salt. And he's well enough that he can also eat nuts and raw vegetables, which meet some of his crunch needs. I realize that this must be harder for you on a number of fronts. My son didn't start with the introductory diet. He's on it for Crohn's, had his symptoms under control with steroids, but due to the steroids was also really hungry so we were advised to jump right in, waiting a few months to introduce certain few foods. So I don't know when you'll be ready for some of our favorites. Taek care, Fay
Guest guest
His symptoms sound like it might be die off. It can produce flu like symptoms. If this is the case he may not feel like eating. Just thing of when you have the flu. Eating is the last thing you want to do ( for me anyway.) If he is eating peanut butter try mixing some honey in with it for a few extra calories. You could also put peanut butter on the chicken, muffins and pancakes (add honey too if you think he'll eat it.) You could try making juice drinking fun. My son will drink anything with a straw or from " mommy's cup. " My son will also drink homemade aple sauce or pear sauce through a straw (add water if needed.) He thinks it is extreamly funny (I do it because it is good for oral motor exercise.) Iv'e never done it but you could water down peanut butter have him drink it. From all the posts it sounds like to me that many of our kids resist change in general but really resist change to something that makes them (and their yeast) feel bad. OUr kids have been feeding thier yeast and other bad bugs with now illegal foods. Now that that is gone, and the body is out of wack, it just takes a while for the body to feel good again. Hang in there. He will eat again. You might also try activated charcoal to help absorb some of the toxins. Hope this helps! andrea mother of Caden 2.5 years old, SCD since 2/05 for intestinal yeast and Emmalynn 11 months mostly SCD > > Hi Everyone, this is my first post: > > We are on day 4 of the diet with our 3 year old with ASD.
