Guest guest
Thanks for sharing this, . No, I didn't see it as I don't watch TV, but I am on a support group for breast cancer. I didn't have reconstruction after my bilateral surgery, but these days MOST of the women choose the " gummy bear " implant option. I don't think they do their homework. They just believe what the plastic surgeon says. They think these MUST be the new and improved 100% risk free version... Sad. Hugs of support, M. Guest guest
, I didn't see the show, but just the premise of it makes me mad. My parents have a neighbor who did this, a prophylactic mastectomy, because she had the breast cancer gene, and guess what? She is sick like us now! How sad is that? I believe she would have been better off just letting her breasts be natural, and working on a natural lifestyle that would go a long way toward warding off cancer in the first place. Just because a person has the gene doesn't mean they will actually GET the cancer. It's all a crapshoot. Anyway, it is outrageous that implants are being touted as safe and a permanent solution. We all know that is a lie. Patty > > Hi..............I just finished watching the end of the show Dr. Phil created called 'The Doctors " . They had a mother and daughter on who were found to have the gene that determines they will have breast cancer. These 2 women went ahead, and had this new type of mastectomy, removing their breast tissue, and replacing it with a " permanent " implant of silicone. The doctor said it was permanent. They were encouraging women at risk for breast cancer to get tested, and that this simple mastectomy , that won't leave a woman deformed, is available. These women have no idea that they have replaced one nightmare with another. Did anybody else see this show? I am so outraged. > > > __________________________________________________________________ > Looking for the perfect gift? Guest guest
Hi Patty: Still on this topic............I just had a conversation with a lady in our church. She told me that her neighbor's friend had a mastectomy years ago, and has been so upset with her appearance, that 2 days ago she got silicone implants put in under the muscle. She had to have expanders put in to make room for the implants. My friend from church asked me what this means because she know all that I am going through. I explained about it, and gave my friend the website address. I hope this lady comes onto the site when she feels better. Her name is Francesca. Please pray for her Patty. Thanks. Guest guest
Hi.................This is just a further request on behalf of Francesca. I don't know this lady, and I am not sure whether she has a computer or even knows how to use one. I am not sure of her age. I wondered what literature I could give her about implants, maybe that I could download and print off for her, that wouldn't scare her. Remember, she just had these implants put in 3 days ago, probably after alot of soul-searching, and thought she was doing the right thing. It will be devastating now to learn the truth. Unfortunately, it seems her only source of info was the doctor, and probably other women she knows who have had reconstruction this way. Doctors deter them from going on support group sites like this. I wish these doctors would take their heads out of the sand and realize that alot of the info on this site is from experts who do not have a financial stake in the implant safety debate. If you could help me that would be terrific. Thanks. Guest guest
I totally agree, Patty. And, isn't it almost malpractice to NOT inform a woman who is highly motivated to avoid breast cancer that there really are a lot of food and lifestyle modifications that could increase here odds of staying well. Why don't ALL the doctors tell or pass this information to their patients? I think it is because they don't KNOW it themselves or don't think the patients will alter their choices. Do they not have the time to pass along a book or DVD title????? Have you seen the video, Raw for 30 Days? Many clips of it are free to view on YouTube; http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=raw+for+30+days & search_type= & aq=0 & oq\ =raw+for+ The diabetic patients are not given the full truth either. AND, many cancers (breast included) are linked to the body's insulin response. I think it's up to women to get the word out. Hugs of support, M. Guest guest
Hi , I think the best course of action for Francesca would be to just offer your experience with breast implants and stay close to her so that she feels comfortable coming to you with any concerns about her own implants. It's not likely that she is going to be open to hearing all the bad stuff about them after just going through what she did to get them. There are many good places on the net with important info on the dangers of implants. I believe I sent a few of the links privately to you....you could just share those if she ever asks for more info. I think your heart is in the right place! It's too bad that Francesca went ahead with her decision before you had a chance to help her sort out the truth from the distortion...but you still can if she is open to it. If she is not, you will be wasting your breath. You're a wonderful friend to show such concern for her, and I am sure she sees it and appreciates it. Have a lovely Thanksgiving! Guest guest
Hi Patty: The problem is, I don't even know this Francesca. A lady I know from church told me about her, and that lady doesn't even know her. Francesca is a friend of a neighbor lady of the lady I know from church. Does that make any sense? I can't stay close to Francesca because I don't even know her. I guess if she is supposed to have help then God will see that it happens. Thanks Patty. Guest guest
AH, yes this makes sense...I've known of plenty of women through the grapevine who have implants and are not open to hearing our side of the story. They usually don't trust what we have to say, but would rather listen to what the doctors say, even though doctors have a vested interest in telling women implants are safe. We have no vested interests at all, other than trying to save women from the same terrible fate we've already endured! Our motives are pure and unhindered by greed, power, or prestige. Just plain and simply the truth to save lives.... Guest guest
Hi Patty..................I didn't really trust what you were saying, only a few weeks ago, so I know a little of what Francesca might feel. I really thought that, to some extent, you were all exaggerating the gravity of our situations. I was ready to have my implants out without the capsule. Thank you God for interceding and letting Lea convince me to call Dr. Blais. If it weren't for Dr. Blais explaining in detail what would happen to me with the capsule left in, I would be having the wrong surgery on Dec 11. I am still without a doctor who will explant me, but at least I now have a clear picture what needs to be done. I am now determined to help any woman who has this fight ahead of her, and reveal the truth to her. I want to turn all of the bad that I have been through into good by helping other women. Thanks alot Patty. Guest guest
Hi Lea: I hope you feel better. I am not expecting any postings from you, just take care of yourself. I will let you know what Dr. Evan's office has to say, and whether he will explant me. I should hear this week when his secretary gets back from vacation.. I really believe he will do my explant. I went to see my GP on Friday, and she is totally understanding about these implants. I am booked for a mammogram without compression, and an ultrasound of my implants to give Dr. some more info. My OR records were in my file at the GP. They really didn't reveal much. I really want to help other women. I am also on breastimplantsupport.org and I have been communicating with a lady there, named . She is in Mississauga. She is booked for an explant on January 18, but I don't know with whom. I think it scared her when I started writing all that DR. Blais told me. I just hope that she is having en bloc removal. I did give her the e-mail and Patty's e-mail. I hope she gets in touch. That's all for now. I really hope that you find some healing for your bowel problems. I am praying for you. You have been such a blessing to me, and I wish I could help you more. Thanks again.
