Guest guest
Fluids...just a thought,at the hospital they have small, clear plastic medicine cups which our nurse gave us to take home and help measure what 2 tsps. is.They hepled me alot! You could also use the tops of medicine cups like Nyquil,or tylenol liquid...BUT DON " T TAKE THESE MEDS!! I really helps measure. Telling realtives for me was easy.I never asked their approval, but instead stated my comorbidities and everything I had done to lose weight. The group that actually gave me the hardest time was my dear co-workers(fellow nurses, paramedics and EMT's). I took it as a compliment how much people cared for me.I think what really drove it home was when I said " look, this isn't a question of should I go to Craig or have my bowels resected?I need help, and I've done my research. " Oh yeah,my mom also wasn't crazy about it.Her first support letter read " Don't kill my baby " (5 times)!! Yes I made her retype it! I also went to her house to watch the videos, and she enjoyed reading my post-op contacts. Her doc said " Please tell not to have the surgery! Weight loss is in her head...we've got to get in there " Which really confused mom! I said " Mom,if you had to have open heart surgery, who would you listen to,me or your doctor? " She said me,so I said then listen to me now... Mom is very proud of me now, and gives her doc updates on me! I love it when I'm right!! My neighbors also told me I was crazy, bullheaded, called me the night before I left crying and saying they were going to pray the rosary for me,I'm Baptist, but thought it was nice! Yesterday Jim (my hubby) said they were outside bragging on my stregnth, will power and my desire to take care of myself. That was very nice to hear!! Hang in there! Take " noise " as a compliment. This is your decision! Osler 42 lbs. gone forever!!
