Guest guest
Dear Everyone: I have read the book for Your blood Type. I did because a nurse I met who had been on SCD for about 8 years or more told me about it. She said she had added some of the beneficials for her blood type with great success and eliminated the some avoids with some additional improvement. UNDERSTAND she had been on the diet for YEARS! I of course because I continued to have to be vigilant regarding my constipation since I am blood type A to try to avoid red meat. To be honest I definitely reduced my intake but I still have it occasionally. My problem was I decided to try and add Soy to give me more protein. It gave me some distension problems so I am thinking about going back to the beginning of the diet because I'm afraid it messed up my healing. I have been on the diet since December, 2004 with complete relief of my symptoms. I believe I had UC. My gastro gave me a diagnosis of IBS because the colonoscopy did not reach my lower intestine, I kept waking up out of the local screaming so they stopped. The point I am trying to make is - you can read this book but I suggest only avoiding was they tell you in the book as " avoids " and see if it helps. Most of us on SCD even if we are blood type A cannot tolerate any grains. In addition to eliminating my stomach pains and diarrhea attacks SCD has eliminated my sensitivity to airborne allergies. I noticed a great improvement and I researched the issue through the internet and For Your Blood Type for allergies. Through this I decided to elminated dairy for awhile even though my all time favorite thing to eat was the SCD yogurt. I did this an VOILA no more allergies I am proud to say. For nearly 4 months I do not have to take my allergy medicine, if I feel allergy problems I take MSM and a decongestant, also Guaifenesen. Understand I have been taking strong anthistamines for nearly 20 years for the last ten powerful prescription meds like Aller X, Zyrtec, etc. High co pays and probably horrible effects on my colon. Just FYI for everyone. I am a big believer in SCD! Eileen Brown

I hope you will take my following comments in the good spirit they are intended. Saying one is on the diet and complying with it are two different things. Not everyone tolerates all the foods allowed and of course people are often tempted to experiment and digress if they insist --but should no longer say they are on SCD, a diet that is based on compliance. Dieting for your blood type has nothing to do with SCD and soy is prohibited for valid reasons. Having been very interested in all types of diets for over sixty years, I know I need SCD; I follow it as written to the best of my knowledge and never hesitate to say with conviction that I am on the SCD ( as it was intended to be followed ) I try to reign myself in on Off List Topics but don't always succeed either. That's when I have to remind myself re-read our home page that says: This is a discussion group for those implementing the Specific Carbohydrate Diet ™. Carol F. SCD 5 years, Celiac ..
