Kate-

My kids can not tolerate coconut due to sulfites in it. You have to buy a fresh

coconut and grate it yourself in order for it not to have sulfites. You may

want to try this and see if your daughter reacts differently.

Hi everyone -

My daughter has been on SCD for two years. Today I made muffins made

from coconut flour and about half hour later she became very sensory

seeking, bouncing off the walls, pushing

herself into things, and scripting a lot.

Is it possible that this is die-off, since coconut has anti-viral

properties? Or is it more likely that she can't tolerate it? Just

wondering if anyone else has seen this reaction to the coconut.

Thanks,

Kate

Not all shredded coconut contains sulfites. The brand I buy at Whole Foods,

e.g., does not. It's " Let's Do Organic " unsweetened coconut.

Debbie-

I was told by a sulfite expert that all coconut that is dried will contain some

sulfites, so if you are really sensitive to them you should use fresh coconut.

I tried organic coconut that said it did not contain sulfites, but it still

caused problems for us.
