Love Janet >> Janet, thanks for the info. I just knew I was right about the liver test!!!! If he won't have it tested, I will do as I always do and just mark it on the lab sheet.LOL Honest, it's the only way to have the tests done that you want and the dr never knows what he has ordered anyway.LOL. All of my liver panels came back ok on the metho, but why take a chance now. I will surely do this. Did Pete get nauseated when he first started the Imuran? Guess everyone is different. Hope to have it gone in a few days. Give Pete my best and let him know that we are all thinking of him. How is Janet??? Please take care of yourself too!!!! You both have a great weekend. Guest guest
I know that a primary function of the diet for IBD's is to enable a patient to get off meds. I'm wondering though if I'm being responsible in refusing Imuran for my 13 year old son, dx 7/05, started Prednisone at the end of July, Pentasa a few weeks after, been on SCD 4-5 weeks, no autism. The GI feels that starting Imuran while weaning off Prednisone offers a greater chance of gong into remission. I'd been hoping - still am- that the diet would fill that role. I was on thyroid medication that required bloodwork for liver enzymes and white blood count, but only had to have it done the first few months on meds, not for the duration. Are the reactions that Imuran could provoke common, acute, long-lasting or permanent? Any hard facts I should know that my doctor may or may not tell me? If I do continue to refuse Imuran I would like to base it on studies about the dangers of Imuran, or it being non-essential, not anecdotal evidence, to be able to speak my doctor's language. Thanks for any input and take care, Fay
Guest guest
Fay, I don't know anything about Imuran other than it is a powerful drug. Have you tried looking it up on google? You can type in " Imuran side effects " or a variety of keywords to find the information you are looking for. You can go to the pharmaceutical company that makes Imuran and read all of those things that are written in fine print on the package insert. That's where I'd start.
