Guest guest
Good info ! Thank you ! ! ! stevia and kidney issues Hi, Recently somebody (Patty I think) reported stevia causing some kidney pain possibly. I am looking trying the low oxalate diet as I do have kidney stone and have had high oxalates in my urine in the past. Here is some information on that: http://www.greatplainslaboratory.com/oxalates/oxal-test.pdf What I've learned just now is that stevia is very high in oxalates: http://www.lowoxalate.info/food_lists/alph_oxstat_chart.pdf Mer
Guest guest
Thank you so much....this is important information. I need to read it again and try to figure out what is going on with me. Ever since the HCG diet, I've had kidney issues. Right now, I have signs of impaired kidney function, though a CAT scan of my abdomen showed no stones and no tumors or anything else out of whack in my abdomen. The right kidney showed signs of nephritis. My urine color was normal, but there was in fact blood in my urine at that time. I was put on a round of very expensive antibiotics, (Levaquin), but the pain has not subsided. That causes me concern. The reason I think I have some kidney impairment is because I have frequent urination and bubbles in my urine. This is not good! So, I wonder if I have a lupus tendency? Or could the kidneys be impaired from the oxalates? I also experienced some sun sensitivity while in Hawaii, but only at the end of the trip. The mystery continues....and I need to keep doing research! But as of right now, I'm on a mission to end this kidney pain and will do that by a water only fast for at least 10 days. I'm looking forward to the rest. I hope everyone is well! Thanks so much for your post! Guest guest
Hey Mer, What happens when you have kidney stones? What do you feel? What does high oxalates in the urine mean? Did the doctor put you on a low oxalate diet, or was that your own idea? Thanks, Patty > > Hi, > Recently somebody (Patty I think) reported stevia causing some kidney pain possibly. > > I am looking trying the low oxalate diet as I do have kidney stone and have had high oxalates in my urine in the past. > > Here is some information on that: > > http://www.greatplainslaboratory.com/oxalates/oxal-test.pdf > > What I've learned just now is that stevia is very high in oxalates: > > http://www.lowoxalate.info/food_lists/alph_oxstat_chart.pdf > > Mer >
Guest guest
Patty, I'm so sorry to hear of this kidney issue. I do think it's cause for concern too. I'm dealing with UTIs right now that wont' go away. And about to take my 2nd round of antibiotics which I hate doing. You can get your oxalates tested and there is a good group called trying_low_oxalates. The list owner, Owens is very knowledgeable and also very active. From my reading on the site I posted below, I've learned (lowoxalate.info) you can take certain probiotics to degrade oxalates, follow a LOD and take calcium citrate to mop up oxalates. I've had pain for years in my urinary tract for no known reason. So, really curious to see if these measures help that. Off to get my antibiotics .... and lots of yogurt. Good luck Patty > > > > Hi, > > Recently somebody (Patty I think) reported stevia causing some kidney pain possibly. > > > > I am looking trying the low oxalate diet as I do have kidney stone and have had high oxalates in my urine in the past. > > > > Here is some information on that: > > > > http://www.greatplainslaboratory.com/oxalates/oxal-test.pdf > > > > What I've learned just now is that stevia is very high in oxalates: > > > > http://www.lowoxalate.info/food_lists/alph_oxstat_chart.pdf > > > > Mer > > >
Guest guest
Hi Patty, Some people report pain in the upper back. I have not had this even though my stone is 1.5cm which is huge. I have had a couple of episdoes which felt as though I were passing a stone (extreme pain in my sides). You can get the amount of oxalates in your urine tested. Here in Canada, our health care system offers this test. But, also, great plains laboratory in the US offers this, but as part of a panel which gets pricey. The idea just came to me yesterday but I knew I had elevated oxalates for a while and I do have pain so I thought it was worth a shot. My diet is so restricted anyway that the adjustments I must make are small. Guest guest
Patty, honey, we all seem to have blood in our urine! Levaguin was used on me for pneumonia. When I had a severe bladder infection, they used Macrobid, and it nearly killed me, but it worked. The pain that I had was unbearable, and called an ambulance, because I could not sit or stand. The EMS medical staff put me on painkillers, and the doctors in the ER thought that it was a kidney stone; however, when they tried to get a urine sample blood splashed everywhere, it was a large blood-clot. They did a CT-Scan and found more blood clots. That is when they put me on Macrobid, because they told us that I had a severe bladder infection, and that it could happen again. I do have mild kidney disease with a lesion on my left kidney. This is a worry for us, because we never know when this infection could happen again. Honey, please be careful about taking drugs that could harm you. What is Stevia, and what were you taking it for? I am so far behind in my emails that I have missed many. is writing a course for the university, and he needs me out of the study. This will end by the end of April. Love you always...Lea ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~`` Re: stevia and kidney issues Thank you so much....this is important information.I need to read it again and try to figure out what is going on with me. Guest guest
Stevia is an herb that tastes sweet but does not affect blood sugar and does not feed microbes. Unfortunately, as we have just learned it is high in oxalates. > > > > Hi, > > Recently somebody (Patty I think) reported stevia causing some kidney pain possibly.
Guest guest
Hi Beautiful Lea! It's so nice to hear from you. No one in my family has ever had any UTI's, kidney infections or blood in urine...only me, so I know it is related to those awful implants. It makes me want to cry...today again for the first time in a long time I've wished I could go back and undo the past, never to have gotten implants in my life. You have suffered so much more than I, Lea. I'm so sorry for all of us that have suffered. I'm thinking I should see a kidney specialist. This is so unlike me, as I never go to doctors if I can go to a naturopath. Stevia is a harmless sweetener. It is used in place of sugar all over the world. It is really very safe! It seems that the only issue is that it is high in oxalates, thanks to Mer's post this morning. I do not take drugs as a rule, but the HCG was for a diet that many of my friends and family have done successfully...even the naturopath told me that she has supervised patients on the HCG diet and she thought it was completely safe. So I don't know what happened to me. All I know is that I felt awful on that diet! It worked...I lost weight, but the price was too steep. I hope you can get caught up on your emails someday. I know the feeling on that. I have been behind too. But I felt God leading me to stay out of school this semester and I am so glad I did. I could have never kept up with a work load with the many events I've had going on this spring. It will be good to see you on the group regularly again when is finished. Love you too, Sweet Lea! Guest guest
You may also read about D-Mannos and see if that is something you can use that will help you. I started it about 6 months ago, and it helps....doesnt stop it, but helps enough to keep taking it. Guest guest
When I am in the sun and get the sun rash, it is after accumulated sun...... and the rash will stay with me for a month or so......20 years ago, the rash would appear in small areas, on my legs, or my arms, the last time I had alot of sun was over 5 years ago, and I ended up with a full body rash that lasted over a month after I got back home........so, I guess the rash can come and vary from person to person.......The lupus rash I get on my face is a bit different than the one I get when out in the sun....... Guest guest
I've made one interesting observation so far.... eat sugar= bubbles in urine. No sugar, lots of water = no bubbles in urine. So that is telling! I'll probably be making an appointment with a nephrologist just to see what it said.
