Patty,

Yes, Thank you.

I am really glad I found the Saline Support. I saw the doctors list there and it is really helpful. I am pretty scared about the surgery, but I think it's my best chance to be normal again. If I knew that the implant does not last forever and if I knew this devastating effect it would have on my health I would never have put it in my body. My plastic surgeon never explained this at all. I didn't even know that the implant only lasts about 10 years!!

Sunny,Everything Dede has told you is true! And just for the record, one of the most common solutions that the doctors seem to default to is going the anti-depressant route. They did with me too, but I wasn't depressed, I was SICK!!!! To get at the root of the problem, the implants need to be removed. I look at it this way...the implants certainly aren't doing any good, and if there is to be any chance of recovery, the implants should be removed. This gives your body the best chance to get back to its former state of health, minus ANY possible interference with a chemically laden foreign object that the immune system is going to react to. It just makes good sense, doesn't it?And in fact, as we get older, the presence of the implants just becomes a liability. Sooner or later, they need to go. They don't last forever, and the chances of them doing severe damage goes only up, not down. More good sense, right? There are good

surgeons in only a few parts of the country. Many plastic surgeons discredit our needs for a proper removal because they don't believe in our illnesses. So, it becomes important to find the right surgeon. We have a list if you are interested in looking at it. You can find it in the files section. We are here to help. I've been living life to the fullest for the past few months, and so have not spent as much time with the group as I'd like, but I'm always just an email away. You will have more questions, so go ahead and ask away. We've got lots of success stories, so we know we are on the right track, contrary to what many doctors say. As Dede pointed out, they have a vested interest in saying that the implants are fine, so you can keep coming back to get your replacements. I believe it's better to be done with them once and for all and learn to love your natural body. I've learned to do that, so if I can, I know others can.Sending hugs

and well wishes...you' ve found sisters who know what you are going through. It's a hard road to walk, but there is hope...never give up hope that you will get better.Hugs,Patty>> Dede,> Yes, I don't think it's due to old age and I don't think it's normal part of aging process. Many doctors that I saw told me that I am going through perimenopause, but I don't think so.  All the doctors think I am going crazy and recommended that I take anti-depressant.  I think it is the implant. I am getting ready to have them removed. Currently I'm searching for a good plastic surgeon who can remove them.> > Thanks for all the information. I am glad I

I have no idea why they are forming.......and right now I dont have the

money to go see someone. I have to take care of the lung thing and

this upcoming heart surgery first. You know 20 percent doesnt sound

like much to spend but with the diagnoses I have, its very high...cuz the

more serious sounding the diagnoses, the more they can charge and get

by with it. Since I am on disability and have medicare coverage, I am no

longer a person, I am a number in the medical field........its sad, but true...

I would do almost anything to have my health back and be able to work....

I hate living in almost isolation, so I have taken it and I make happy

the best I can with it. I am so lucky and blessed to have been born with

the " always happy " gene......and the " easy to occupy myself " gene.....

Dont get me wrong, I have had some down times......but for the most part

I can make happy of most anything.........

Love ya girl ! !

Hi, I have been following your conversation, and you may not know this, but Dr. Blais told me that the life of a saline implant is only 2 to 4 years. I had my implants for 9 years, and my doctor had added Solumedrol to the saline. Dr. Blais said that reduces their life to a year. You will receive really good advice from the support group, Sunny. You are in good hands. xoxo

Hi, Patty

I am currently searching for a good plastic surgeon to do the implant so I just saw a plastic surgeon over the weekend and he looked at me funny when I told him that I wanted explantation. He asked me how long I had the implant and when I told him that I had 11 years. He said that I don't have to take it out unless it deflates! He aid it is only salt water and the body would just absorbe it without any problems. He also said that I should replace them and not just take them out. When I asked him if the silicon shells deteriorate over the years he said yes, but he said that it is the most inert substance and has no affect on the body. Can you believe it? Most plastic surgeons either do not know everything about the implant or do not want to disclose accurate information. I also developed a lump in my breast 6 years after I put these implant in and the surgeon said I would have to remove them.

Anyway, I will work on it one step at a time.

Each one of us need to take charge of our health and our bodies as no one else can.

Thanks!

Sunny

Sunny,Most women had no idea what they were getting into with breast implants. I certainly had no idea I could get as sick as I did.The doctors don't help, because they continue to deny that implants are making women ill, when we've seen evidence of this for over 40 years now. And everything keeps changing...when I got implants, I was told they would last my lifetime. About 2 months after my implant surgery, my doctor sent me information that said implants would have to be replaced every 7 years! Wow, talk about bait and switch. It's understandable that you would be scared of the surgery..it' s an unknown to you. But it really isn't too bad...if you have an experience like mine for explant, you will find that the pain is much, much less, and recovery much quicker.I hope you can find the right surgeon...you really need to have the surgery done correctly (en bloc or at least a total capsulectomy with drains). This will be one

surgery you want done right the first time.Let me know if you have further questions. I will try to keep in touch as much as possible on the group....just challenged right now!I hope you had a great Easter.Patty> >> > Dede,> > Yes, I don't think it's due to old age and I

Like what I have said before, that the implant manufacturers do NOT (as expected) discuss the dangers of their products to us doctors. Of course, a used car salesman will never tell you negative about the car they are selling.Yes, sad to say, a lot of doctors will also not do research on their implants, they just implant and implant without any concern whatsoever.Doctors that do proper explantation are rare to find, but you can find one near you, it's just a matter of looking. It is, of course, not a popular procedure and hence is not being advertised.Good luck in finding the right surgeon for you. From: Sun Lee <sunloves@...>Subject: Re: Re: Painful lumps? Hi, Patty

The person I saw was not on the list. His name is Dr. Altman. Do you know anyone in California?

I saw on the list Jae Chun of Newport Beach. I have to go out of the country for 3 weeks and I plan to see him when I return. I get the feeling that the most plastic surgeons do not want to do just explant because they fear that you might be unhappy after removing the implant due to how it's going to look so they all recommend putting another implant in place. I don't want to put another one in because I don't want to go through another surgery. I guess I will have to live with my true self + scars. I feel that health is more important then cosmetics.

Thanks again for your support

Sunny

Sunny,You've got that right. I used to believe that doctors knew everything and that I could trust everything they said...found out that is only true of a very few doctors in the world, that are not sold out to being politically correct. It takes courage to take the high road and tell the truth. So, what did you decide regarding this surgeon? Are you still looking for another one? Who was it, by the way (wondering if he/she is on our list?)Sometimes the search for the right surgeon can be very disheartening and frustrating. In the cases where women just want the implants out ASAP and don't have too many hurdles to get over, we can recommend just going to the plastic surgeons we trust implicitly to do the right thing. That usually means traveling if you are not in the city where they practice. Here is who we recommend without batting an eye. These doctors KNOW about proper explant, and do it right every time, because they

KNOW women are getting sick from implants:Dr. Lu Feng, Cleveland OHDr. Kolb, Atlanta, GADr. Huang, Denver, CODr. Ed Melmed, Dallas TX (please be sure to request a TOTAL capsulectomy and get it in writing that he will do it if you have saline implants.)If you need any further assistance with your search, please let us know. Sunny ~

There are lots of girls that have explant, and the doctors

took pride in their artistic work, and they look very good !

just alittle smaller, but not always smaller.

There are pixs of gals after explant in shutterfly

the password is implants......just go to the bottom of the

page here and find the link and click it on.....

you will see how good the girls still look.........

Blessings ~

Hi, Patty

Thank you for the encouraging words!

I am going to check out Dr. Lee

Sunny

Hi Sunny,I'm not familiar enough with Dr. Jae Chun to know how good he is.There is a doctor in San Diego you might want to check out as well, his name is Dr. Gilbert Lee,11515 El Camino Real, Suite 150,San Diego, CA 92130 (858)720-1440. I've heard good things about him.And you are right, most doctors do not want to perform explant surgery. It is much more involved than implantation, takes more time, more skill, more everything. Doctors often use the fear tactic, saying that you won't like the way you look; you will become depressed; you'll just be back for more implants later, blah, blah, blah, or whatever, and they totally don't realize that they are speaking of their own ability to make you look good! Because we have lots of examples of women who have had explant and look fantastic when they've used Dr. Feng, Dr. Kolb, Dr. Huang and Dr. Melmed and others. So, don't fall for this game...you don't have to look bad at all! In fact,

I've had some women tell me that they look better after explant than before implant. I'm one of them too! So, don't be discouraged about the outcome. YOu can look beautiful and do something that will help you get your health back!Patty> > > >> > > > Dede,> > > > Yes, I don't think it's due to old age and I don't think it's normal part of aging process.ÃÆ'‚ Many doctors that I saw told me that I am going through perimenopause, but I don't think so.ÃÆ'‚ ÃÆ'‚ All the doctors think I am going
