Guest guest
Dear and e, The sweet craving will probably turn out to be only temporary. I, too, had some cravings immediately post op, and also had some cake and ice cream at my sons birthday, when I was 6 weeks post op and didn't dump. I didn't know whether to be happy or sad. Now I am 4 months post op, and the cravings are not there. Sweet things often are " too sweet " , and I never thought I would EVER say something like that. Candy has lost its appeal, ice cream grows crystal moss in the freezer now. I do eat a cookie now and then, but I have developed dumping if I eat more than just a few bites of anything sweet. I have been delighted at the development of these things, just more tools in the fight against fat. I have also found that Nutrasweet is plenty sweet, and natural fruits like melon and strawberries without any added sweetner are great. Also, sweet corn, just plain, tastes like heaven. It may be that some things just develop more slowly for some of us. And I think e's thoughts about pre op mentality driving some of the cravings is sound.
