Guest guest
Great Story you posted! Sometimes we tend to post the negatives and the bad outcomes only. It's good to read about the positive outcomes people have had associated with this surgery. Keep the stories coming and this may make those awaiting the surgery alot stronger and mentally prepared... Nick (The Australian) PS...(One important thing to remember is that hearing returning after surgery can take time, even months... Thanks to this website I was told about that and suprise, suprise my hearing is returning)
Guest guest
g,day Nick where abouts in Australia do you live? We live in Gladstone CQ. We just got back from Brisbane where we see Professor Black and he gave Nick the all clear, he does not need another operation at the momment. He is in a lot of pain though but P Black said it is because Nick is growing but obviously the ceramic bones he inserted last year are not, so we are hoping for another 12 months before his next reconstructive surgery. Last month Nick's face become paralised the first sign of another c-toma he was put on steroids immediately and it seemed to have worked this time without surgery as the c-toma ceased to grow. The ceramic bones has also stopped alot of the c-toma from forming as it has nothing to feed off. I am very relieved as I doubt that Nick can handle any more ops at the momment. In four years he has had over 30 ops and as a result has slight brain damage and epilepsy. He just turned 9 yesterday. Next month he goes to Brisbane again as one of his kidneys has collapsed from all the medication he has been on and he also has a hearing test whilst down there. I believe that his hearing has improved to some extent, he seems to hear lolly papers being rattled now. nothing but good news from this end. as a parent I am relieved, however, sometimes I feel that as we need to take Nick to Brisbane on a regular basis and the other kids need to attend school, as parents in some respect we are neglecting the needs of our other two children aged 11 and 10, if anyone out there knows how we can stay together as a family unit and spend more quality time with the other kids I would love some advice. thanks debbie Re: Finding a Good Surgeon Great Story you posted! Guest guest
Hi, Just got back from my consultation with a London clinic called The hospital Group, they seem keen to help, although they said my case is rare in the UK, i think there are many more women in England with implant poisoning they just don't know it yet! The NHS don't want to help! its a lonely place when your ill. Yes it would be lovely to join your support group. XX XX maria X
