Guest guest
Lori: Thanks for the encouraging words. All prayers will be greatly appreciated. As far as I know - there are four of us scheduled that day (Friday, May 26th). I am still very nervous and scared. My mother never would express an opinion on the surgery (she is a R.N.) because she is afraid that if something goes wrong, I will blame her. But I can tell, in her heart of hearts, that she knows this is best for me. I am the only overweight one in my immediate family (Mom, Dad and both brothers are skinny rails) but my cousins and all aunts/uncles on my Dad's side are rather large - most around 325 or better. They have all the associated co-morbidies: high BP, diabetics, etc. No one else wants to talk about it and they shy away from me when I mention it. My co-workers (90 % of them) are really a great extended family and they are very supportive and loving. My husband has very supportive and expresses that although he is very scared, he wants me to be happy and to feel better. I have not told my kids. My oldest child is only four and I do not believe that she will be able to understand... so I've told her nothing at all except that she and her little brother (8 months) will be staying with Grandma for a few days while Mommy and Daddy go away together. I have written a letter to them (my children) - just in case - to read when they are older. For those of you who would like to see my beautiful angels, I have attached them to this message. I hope it works. Love, Missy ******************************************************* le: Thanks! I will certainly be looking for you. Maybe you can calm my husband in the lobby before you go home on Friday. My thoughts and prayers are with each and every one of you having surgery today, tomorrow and every day. God Bless. BTW - I lived in Bladen County all my life -until I met and married my husband in 1994. I grew up in the country (and honey, I do mean the BACK WOODS) about three miles outside of Tar Heel, NC and about two miles from Dublin, NC (the peanut capital of the world - HAHA!). It is beautiful country - but just that... country. I remember hating for it to take thirty minutes just to get to the grocery store when I was growing up. But, I learned a lot......I could drive a tractor by the age of six, and learned to drive a stick-shift by age eight. I learned how to plow, plant, weed, pick, pack and preserve every kind of fruit and vegetable known to man. We were taught to work hard... and that we did. My Daddy taught me how to skin deer, scale fish and shoot a gun. I have been in both worlds - country and inner city. I can't decide which I prefer.... but I do know it's a nice break to go to Mama's and be able to hear nothing but the whipper-whills (sp?) in the wind at night.
