Guest guest
Hello, Hoping everyone had a lovely Thanksgiving. Many thanks for the wonderful SCD recipes - they were really great! Has anyone ever heard anything about acupuncture as a treatment/cure for ulcerative colitis? I knew this was the right forum to ask, since we're all in the same boat here. Thanking all in advance. scdbob daughter uc
Guest guest
I have friends that have had some success. I think it > can be helpful but is highly individual specific. In > general, I think acupuncture is great for prevention > and general wellness if you can afford the expense. > > sydnee (mom to Ian ASD) > Actually we try to confine our topics here to dietary intervention because of the multitudes of other therapies parents consider for autism . There are other support groups dedicated to them. Carol F. SCD 5 years
Guest guest
Hi Kim, I go to a Chinese acupuncturist, and the treatments have helped me a lot with sleep disturbances, fatigue and nausea. It's really important to find someone who has excellent training and experience. As for herbal medicine, my hepatologist (and most others, I think) does not allow me to take herbal meds, as there is no way to ascertain their purity or exactly what is in these meds. Ricky PSC 2003 Acupuncture Has anyone pursued acupuncture or herbal medicine as a treatment? If so, for what symptoms and what results if any? ------------------------------------

Guest guest
I second the notion that acupuncture helps. It does, a lot, and as soon as I can I want to get back to it. For me the two biggest areas of help have been pain and just plain feeling better. It calms the gut but of course SCD will do more for that in solving the problem. I have had acupuncture treatments that tingle, where it seems like the needles are " talking " to each other from one end of the body to another. It's not painful, though, not for me. There are a couple of places that I cannot let them stick needles in, it's just TOO painful for me but that's OK, there are always alternate points they can use. But I get very good treatments even the times I don't even know the needles are there, too.
