Guest guest
Janet, Try your hardest - smoking can affect your surgery and recovery so badly. My surgeon won't operate on anyone unless they have been smoke free for 30 days - He feels very strongly about this because it takes a very long time for the body to recover from the effects of smoking. At this point it is safer to munch out on something than to smoke. Have some Hagen Daz while you still can enjoy it. I haven't seen Cheryl post in a long while, but I always remember her sister's horrendous experience after the MGB because of her smoking. And she smoked her last cigarette the night before surgery. You need to stop sooner - you don't want to have to tote around an oxygen tank like she did. Sorry - another soap box - but this is TRULY a life threatening situation that you can address. Please take care of yourself - we all want you in good shape to take care of Rick and then yourself. Again - sorry for preaching, and believe me I KNOW how hard smoking is to give up. But anyone who has the willpower to be on all the diets we have, can fight the good fight with the cigarettes. You are in my prayers, Shari Re: Trish OK you caught me! I smoked a few cigs during my pity party. I have had a couple in the evenings since then. BUT I will not smoke at all after Rick comes home from surgery. He is still smoking trying to cut back but losing ground. We promised no more after surgery. His last day was supposed to be last Wed for my surgery. We extended it one more week for him. The most I smoke now is three a day. This is so hard especially when I'm stressed. But I'm trying. I will keep you posted when I quit again. {{{{{HUGS}}}}} Janet Armour ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ This message is from the Mini-Gastric Bypass Mailing List at Onelist.com Please visit our web site at http://clos.net Get the Patient Manual at http://clos.net/get_patient_manual.htm
