Guest guest
HI!! I have not sent in any information to Dr. R. yet, but I am working on it. I am aware that in the past it was not recommended that you get pregnant after having this surgery. However, I have been told that around six women have gone on to have babies. Are any of you post-op mommies out there? I would love some info.
Guest guest
Hi, my story is this. I was given a name of a doctor from someone on this list. I didn't have one. So, I went to a totally perfect stranger, made up a nice little packet for him with the handbook, contacts, letters of support and asked him to support me. He said YES! That's about it. a rcpr918@... wrote: > > I have been researching this surgery for a little while now. I really want > ot have it done. Can someone out there answer a question for me? Guest guest
I just got up the nerve to talk to my doctor about it the other day when I was at his office with my daughter for her checkup. First, I copied off the letter on Dr. R's website. The one that is to your doctor from Dr. R saying that you have contacted his office and want to have the surgery, and saying what Dr. R needs from your doctor. I put that letter into my own word processing program and put my name in place of " patient " where it seemed appropriate, and I put my docs name as the one it was addressed to. I also printed out a copy of the patient manual and gave him that. I made sure I had already read the manual and almost everything on the web site so I could talk intelligently about the MGB. My doc looked at the letter, speed read the manual while I was sitting there talking about the MGB and why I had chosen it, asked me some important questions (particularly about how it differed from the RNY since that was the surgery he was familiar with) and then he told me that he thought the MGB was the best choice from what I had said and what he read! He was impressed that Dr. R makes all his results and his post-op patients available to us pre- ops. I also prayed a lot before I went to see my doc! I have my appointment with him tomorrow to check me over well, and I hope he'll tell me then that he'll write the necessary letter to Dr. R right away. You don't have to see your doctor before you fill out the patient information form, I don't think. But you may need his/her support for your insurance, and Dr. R will send his letter to your insurance company soon after you submit the PI form, so you probably need to talk to your doctor soon. Remember, if your doctor won't agree for some reason, then you can always switch doctors. Several people on this list have had to do that, and then they have found a doctor to support them. So don't be too worried. Good Luck! Sara BMI 42 (I think) rcpr918@... wrote: > I have been researching this surgery for a little while now. I really want > ot have it done.
