Guest guest
My son started the SCD at 17 mos old and we followed it pretty faithfully for 8 months. Then I started to try to branch things out a bit as he has MANY IgE allergies (nuts, legumes, eggs, dairy) which make the SCD difficult. I added in coconut kefir and cultured veggies. We had seen Dr Krigsman in June for a scope when my son was 2y 3m and he found no inflammatory changes but still wanted him to try Sulafasalazine (could not tolerate) followed by Orapred (no improevement) and Pentasa (could not tolerate either). I am not sure that the meds route is for him. I ahve tried BED in the meantime (clearly could not tolerate the grains) and the LOD (horrific on rice) and then have even just tried to add back in more complex carbs (still disasterous). I originally took him to Krigsman not because of diarrhea (his stools were actually pretty well formed) but because he still had a massively bloated belly. Well now after all of these trials in the last six months he has diarrhea now and a bloated belly (belly improved somewhat after havin ghim cleaned out from scope six months ago.) Recently we had a SAGE test done...it showed so amny foods he was not tolerating that he was eating (winter squash, pumpkin, cabbage, coconut, carrots, peaches). My son is so limited by IgE, now IgG, and just generally not tolerating grains and complex carbs due to bowel issues. I feel that SCD was the best for him but I will need to do better on a rotation with the extremely limited choices for him. I started the intro diet with him today (he is just eating chicken boiled and broth from the crockpot and grape juice jello). I will do this for 3-5 days depending on how long until we can get him back to some baseline. Can someone help me get him back to some type of diet with a rotation and get this diarrhea under control. My son will be three in March and is nearly recovered however, his gut is in worse shape than six months ago and I need help. He cannot have dairy (level 4 IgE reaction) I know of someone who used the juice of the young coconut and her own probiotic to culture it in. I think my son would be able to eventually have this juice again (if I strained it through a cheesecloth to filter particiles of the meat out) and was wonering if anyone had tried this with the SCD yogurt starter? Help me first though with a rotation He can eat Meats (no problems rotating these) oils (olive, beef lard, safflower, lamb grease) carbs (pineapple, mango, zuccini, grape juice, pear, avocado) I have yet to try (papaya, limas (although has problems with many other legumes), brussel sprouts, beets, apples, and I want to try to roatoe back in at least acorn squash in a few more weeks). Thnaksd for the help! Meghan
