Guest guest
Liz, I was wondering how you were doing. I'm sorry your doctor isn't more responsive. I'm glad you're having the ultrasound though. Have you had a chest X-ray? I really hope and pray it isn't serious. Guest guest
Hi, Liz, I went to my rheumy this week with some aches and pains mostly located in the pelvis on down. He repeated the suggestion from the last appointment to do Yoga. I told him at this appointment that I had bought 2 books; one was Yoga for arthritis and exercises (in general) for arthritis. Both books listed a few exercises specific to AS. As I told my rheumy, I'd been doing them and it seemed to make the pain worse. He suggested that I reduce the amount of exercises that I do at each session. I said there are 2 exercises that I only do 2 (1 for each side). Again, he suggested that perhaps I do only 1 or reduce the number that I do each week. I'm giving it a try. Perhaps you could follow this same advice? Good luck - Pat
Guest guest
I am an Achon and have not heard of such maladies being associated with the diagnosis. However, like most people on this list and in LPA though I know a lot about my type of dwarfism, I don't know it all. That is why we use this list and LPA for such communication. Since you are new to this world, let me remind you, as I was once reminded - there are things we get from our parents. However, that does not mean you, shouldn't ask the question to see if it does pertain to the dwarfism. It just means that all physical issues should not be attributed to dwarfism. The funny thing about having a genetic type of dwarfism is that you have to look at your body or genetic code as if you have three (3) parents instead of the usually two. For instance the founder of LPA - Barty's mother and father were both of Italian decent. 's third parent was CH. had the olive skin of his mother and father, but the blond wispy hair of CH. I on the other hand do not have the common facially structure of a Achon. My father's genetic code was more dominate than the Achon genetic code, so I have his nose and chin. Thus, if you get no response to this issue or a negative response, you may want to check the other genetic codes in their mix. _____ From: Brad [mailto:tuva714@...] Sent: Tuesday, October 05, 2004 9:58 AM dwarfism Subject: health issues Hello everyone - I am Brad and I am currently working for a 32 year old woman (M) and her son (J), both of whom are LP's (achon). As I have said in my previous post - thanks to all who replied - I am new to the LP world and the issues that go with it, and M & J have had almost no interaction with others with the same diagnosis and they have not had the appropriate medical care that they need (we are working on this currently). M asked that I post a note asking if anyone has had difficulty with skin lesions. She has had two occurences of this in the last year, and small cuts appear on her lower legs. Small bumps have been noticed underneath these lesions. M is wondering if others have experienced this problem, and what they have done for some relief. The second issue that M asked me to relay has to do with digestion and erratic intestinal activity. She reports that on some occasions she and her son can eat whatever they want (actually have a very good diet) and there are no problems, and on other days with the same food, they experience rather intense intestinal activity. Any thoughts on these issues would be appreciated, as the doctor currently seeing these two has no ideas and it is going to be a while until they can see a doctor with the right background for their needs. Thanks to all - Brad ===
Guest guest
Hi everyone, I had been thinking about implants for years and finally deceided just to go ahead and do it. I meet with two surgeons. I deceided to go with the second one. It was a female doctor and I just loved her after the consultation. I too had heard alot of bad things about the silicone so saline was the option. I was never told that the shell was made from silicone. I had the implants put in November of 2006. After healing for a while I noticed a big difference in the sizes so, she told me I needed more surgery to correct the problem. They would just open the incision site and add more fluid through the valve.Which we did. After that, in June of 2007 I developed an infection. The doctors plan was to put me on 2 different antibotics for 6 weeks. At the end of that period it was better but the doctor called and said she didnt think that I should keep the implants in.She even admitted that I got the infection during the 2nd surgery. I was told that they would have to be removed and wait 3months for the infection to clear before putting them back in. I waited the 3 months and went back for the second set of implants. Soon after I developed weird acking all over. That lasted a a few weeks, then my elbows started to hurt. I didnt think much of it at the time, thought it may have been work related. Then it June of 2008 it really hit me. I started feeling " not well " . Cant really explain it, just felt sick. Then the joint pain started, first in the fingers on my right hand then my feet. God, when I got out of bed in the morning it felt like I was walking on rocks.I have headaches and a fuzzy feeling in my head most of the time. Most the time my hands and feet feel like thier " vibrating " . I forget peoples names that Ive know for years. Somtimes I walk like I have been drinking, off balance feeling, and sometimes dizziness.I feel sick to my stomach sometimes to. I read all the posts about how breast implants have caused all these illnesses and I know deep down that my implants have to be the cause of my problems too, I just dont know for sure. Can someone get back to me with thier opinion? I did have blood work(CBC) done and everything came back ok. Im so scared, I want to have these things taken out but I cant afford it, I was just let go from a job I had been with for 10 years, due to lack of work. Im still trying to pay off the loan from having the implants in Please help!!
