Hi Everybody,

This is my first time posting, so I hope I do this right. I have been reading

the emails for a little over a week, and I have been researching the MGB for a

couple of months. I know I want to do this. I have a couple of questions:

1. I am out of state, but my insurance does say they cover treatment for morbid

obesity. However, that's all they say in the info we have from them, so I don't

know if that means they will cover surgery or not. I have Anthem insurance, and

I live in Tennessee. Does anyone have any knowledge of this insurance company

or know if treatment for morbid obesity means surgery? Of course, even if it

does, I know I'll have to fight them to go out of network. If the insurance

agrees to cover it, but not 100%, do you have to pay Dr. R and the hospital the

rest up front, or will they bill you? This insurance thing is now my biggest

worry.

2. I have done my 10 patient contacts, mostly by email. Do I include copies of

the emails I got from my contacts in my packet to Dr. R's office, or do I just

list and summarize them myself?

3. Has anyone out there had a PCP in east Tennessee (Knoxville or anywhere

within 2-3 hours of there) who supported them for this surgery? I haven't

talked to my doctor about it yet. I need to wait for a few more weeks to go

ahead with all the medical stuff, and I'm a chicken, too. I hate confrontation,

so I worry about trying to talk my doctor into it if he isn't for it.

I have enjoyed reading all the emails. They have been very informative and

supportive. Thanks for your help.
