Hey Lady,

I had saline implants under the muscle for 4 yrs. I was just explanted a wk ago today. I had thought I had done my research too. Boy did I make a mistake. My implants looked good but I got so very sick from them. I have a long road to recover completely from the damage that implants has done to my body. My ps originally told me that they were safe. I started having problems and then he finally told me he thought I was having an immune response to the implants. dropped his explanting fee by $5000 and since I have gotten them out I am already seeing improvements in alot of my symptoms. PLease PLEASE do your research and know exacly what you are getting yourself into. Even if you didnt have any symptoms from them you still will be looking at further surgeries. There are several support forums where you can read tons of stories about the dangers and complications of implants. Im really

lucky as I had large implants (575cc's) and thought my breast would be ruined. So far they are looking good and im so glad to have the toxic bags out of me.

Take care

Good Morning!Or I thought it was! I stumbled across your website and OMG I am just sitting here with my mouth on the ground! Now I'm more confused than ever. I thought I really wanted implants. Now I don't know. Does every one here have Saline implants only? I thought I had done my research, but it doesn't look like I have. Please help?

Welcome to our group, and we are so happy that you have not been implanted. These devices are not safe, and it is a tragic that doctors on television are telling women that implants are safe.

Honey, I would never tell you what to do; however, if you knew what we have all been through you would never have breast implants.

Stay close...with love and respect....Lea

Tina,

Hi..I have saline implants. The problem is the shell of the implant is made of silicone and many other toxins. Don't let anybody fool you. Saline implants are not safe! I've read about many women who were fit and healthy before their implants that became ill (including me) after. Now, I barely make through each day in hopes as soon as I get them out I'll get better. Don't do it! Save yourself the worry and even worse .... sickness! They have ruined many lives.

Thank you Patty for helping, and we all hope that you get well soon. I have not been well, and I am sorry that I have not been giving more support. Please do not lift anything heavy for quite some time. Your body needs time to heal, and you need plenty of rest.

Love you....Lea

Dearest Ladies:

I have just spoken to Dr. Blais, and he told me that if you are pregnant that you must NOT have your implants removed until your baby is born....no other surgeries either while you are pregnant. He also said that you must NOT nurse your baby when you have had breast implants.

Dr. Blais is a medical devices expert, and he is very much involved with women who have had these deadly devices. Please just key in his name, and do a search, and you will be very interested in what he has to say.

Hi and welcome.

I hope that we can help you decide against implants! For me personally, and

many thousands of other women, implants were the biggest mistake of my life. I

regret getting them immensely. They took away my health and so many productive

years of my life.

On this group, we have helped women with both saline and silicone gel implants,

as well as silicone injections. In past years, some women even had the soybean

oil implants, but those were very short lived, and not too many women had them.

Please continue to read about the women who have suffered on this group,

especially the stories. There are also other websites, such as

www.explantation.com where you will find troubling stories.

Implants are not all they are cracked up to be...some women do fine with them,

but I can tell you this with emphatic certainty...if you are one of the unlucky

ones who end up sick from implants, you will live with huge regret of what you

gave up...health, relationships, your savings and retirement accounts, and more.

IT'S SO NOT WORTH IT!!!!!!

Let us know what questions you have and we will try to help you.

Autoimmune disease is a possibility with implants, even though the doctors

downplay it. But once you have autoimmune disease, you will never be the same.

Lea,Did he say not to breast feed WHILE having implants, or if you have EVER had breast implants???I've been wondering and praying about that question for quite sometime.  I was explanted in 2006 and had my first baby in 2008.  Although it had been 2 years, I still felt sick.  I breastfed for 3 months, then stopped due to little production.  I was so scared that I was making a bad decision, but thought breast milk would be best.???  My 2nd baby came in 2009, and again, I breastfed... but only for 1 month.

I will probably have 1 or 2 more children and really would like to have a concrete answer on this.  Any help would be great.  Thanks! On Thu, Jun 3, 2010 at 5:53 PM, Lea <leamary@...> wrote:

My Dear :

I think that it would be good for you to speak to Dr. Blais, because that way you will get the correct information. He did say to never breast feed your baby if you have had breast implants. I know that it is sad that breast implants cause so many problems. There is a group called CATS; however, I need to find their number, it is all about children being sick from their mother's implants.

Dr. Blais is available in the morning, and his number is 613-728-8688. He is a very gentle man, and he has helped so many women who have become sick from these devices.

Good luck....love always.....Lea

Hay girl..........

Ya know, having implants in, and having lupus and a body

that shut down 5 years ago, having tons of steroids

and putting on lots of water weight, my boobs also grew.

I have lost 50 of those pounds, but the boobs.........honey

they are the size of small watermelons.......and one is bigger

than the other, its a 2 hander, I mean i can put 2 hands

beside each other and still have boob without hand under

it....the dang thing weighed 12 lbs last time I weighed it......

yep, it is disgusting, they both rest near my belly button

when I sit down.....and......they point to the ground and are

uuuuuuuuuuugly.....I much rather have my empty breasts that

I had before the salines were put in....I had them for 2 years, yep, empty breast with nipples sittin there all lonely.......but......

previous to that I had silicone ones that had a massive rupture

and had 7 surgeries detatching my chest wall to remove all the tumors and cysts that formed in there due to the free floating

silicone.

Are you laughing yet ? I am..........but I can now, cuz its my life

and its what I got.....and I no longer cry over it all...its the longest education I have ever had......and I respect it because it is teaching me how to help others with full ongoing compassion.....

Originally before the first implants, all I wanted a lift, was easily talked into little implants that would last my lifetime and stay perky forever.....NOT...........didnt happen..instead what I got was

a couple years of huge boobs that slowly swelled to even larger

boobs, as I didnt know I had a slow leak at first, and the bigger

they got, the heavier they got, and the more tired I got, and

they started acheing....and my neck and shoulders started aching

I had indents in my shoulders from the bras I wore, then the boobs started firming up, and getting hard...and the harder they got the more sore they were in there, and you know the whole time they

were in there, it felt like something was laying on my chest

and it was on my last nerve cuz I couldnt get it off, I couldnt get away from that feeling that a set of books was sitting on my chest. When I rolled on one side or the other in bed, I could feel this scratching feeling inside there, and sure enough there were calcifications, literally scratching my insides !

Ya know.....bottom line, I would never have any surgery that wasnt absolutely and totally necessary to my living, ever again.

I have had a total of 22 or so surgerys now.....ranging from knee to heart, hysterectomy and lungs drained.........and just recently had a new heart device put in...........

All after the first " SAFE " implants were installed into my chest..

Ya know.....if I had it to do all over again, I would honor those little saggy breasts I had before it all started.....I would have a birthday for them every year and I would love and cherish them

" as is " and just wear clothes that made me feel good about me.

Really think about what you are wanting to do, read all about the whole proceedure and think about it all like.....do I wanna risk

not having any sensation in my breasts ? Do I wanna risk going under anesthesia to have my boobs re-arranged ?

Research any scenario you can...than make your decision.....

Love the skin your in........its all yours, especially created by

you know who, just for you....

FYI...the only reason there are still implants in my body

is because the heart and lungs have been to weak to have a

surgery..but I am getting there...despite them sending me

home to die 5 years ago...needing a heart transplant and not

being able to have one due to having lupus !

You just never know what life is really gonna bring you..

despite it all, I love life, and I will always find ways to

live as positive as I can......and use the life lessons to help

others....

Keep researching and feel 110 % comfortable with your

decision before you move forward with what ever you do.....

In the beginning of all this, for me, there was a little nagging

voice saying dont do this......I should have listened......

Wishing you wellness in anything you do !

Thinking about Implants

Ladies,

, Lea, Patty, , Glory2Glory and others, THANK YOU so much for listening and responding to my email! You made me feel so welcome! I have read alot more of your stories and will be doing more research. Thanks so much for the other two links which I WILL be checking out today. You know, my whole reason for the surgery was not the implants to begin with. It was the lift. I feel so self conscious about the way I look. After breast feeding, one of my breasts became much larger and is much lower than the other one and even the nipple is much larger than the other. I can't bare for my husband to see me and this year when I put a one piece bathing suit on with no wire, it was a horrible experience. You could see right through that one was much lower than the other one. I just wanted to cry! I have been wanting this forever and even had an appointment scheduled last year on July 3rd for the implants but had to cancel due to moving out of state. Ironic uh? Anyway, it has bothered me for sometime now. I think about it all the time! So when I went it to get the consultations (2), I decided why not, get a little more to be a full C or a small D at the same time? Now after finding you guys, I thinking about just the lift again. The only problem with that is the lift will probably make me smaller. Is there anyone of you that has had a lift? Did you get smaller? Thanks!!

Darling Dede:

Honey, bless your heart. You have been through so much, and my breasts grew larger after I had them too. I was an A cup and ended up with a C cup. My left breast had to be removed due to a large seroma, and now I look awful. My breasts are dead, and I have no feeling in them; however, I do feel pain at times.

Dede, you are so strong and brave to share your story with the group. We will all pray that you will get well, and have a wonderful life. Thank you for all of the support that you continue to give....love you....Lea

When I went to seek implantation, I was just finishing up breast feeding my

youngest son. Since I still had milk in my breasts, and the glands were still

in the mode of " post pregnancy " I guess you could say, I had to wait several

months for them to go back to normal.

My guess is that after giving birth, you will have to wait a few months also, to

let the breasts go back to normal. That is, if you definitely choose not to

breast feed. I'm really sorry about that, because breast feeding is so good for

the baby, but you are right about the risks. I have been in touch with women

who breast fed with implants, and unfortunately some of the children suffered

esophageal problems and more. So, breast feeding is probably not a good idea,

but that means that you can probably get your implants out sooner rather than

later as your breast tissue settles back to normal.

Call me and we can meet up someday soon. School should be out by now, right?

You and I live on opposite sides of Vegas!! But I've met other women halfway

before. One of our businesses is in North Las Vegas, (at Craig and Decatur) so

I have a little familiarity with that part of town.

Stay hopeful! You are going to get through this!

Having breast fed all of my children for at least 2 years, I can say from

experience that you should try to breast feed your children for as long as you

can feasibly do it --meaning that the babies are gaining weight and are healthy

with your production of milk. Your doctor will be able to tell you if they are

gaining enough weight, and of course, they will not be acting like they are

hungry all the time.

The longer you can breast feed your baby, the better it is for them. That

colostrum production is vital for their immunity and development. So, even one

month of breastfeeding is great if that is all you can do.

I don't think you have anything to worry about with your implants being gone.

The only thing I would worry about is the quality and quantity of the milk

production, but again, the longer you can breastfeed, the better it is. Once you

start supplementing with bottled milk and solid foods, the quantity of your milk

will go down, because the baby isn't taking as much.

I am so happy for you that you've been able to become a mommy!!!

I hope that you will still see a resolution of your illness, and I believe that

with a focus on diet, you can. Did you get diagnosed with lupus ?

I had a lift, and I am not smaller at all.

The lift should not take out any breast tissue, but only tighten up the loose

skin surrounding the breast tissue. That means that, volume-wise, you should be

the same, but that is just looks better!

I had the anchor lift, but I think these days they use a method that produces

little scarring. Do you know what kind of lift you are being considered for?

There is the anchor lift, and then there is the lollipop lift, and also the

donut.

I am so proud of you for realizing that implants are not necessary. Truthfully,

I think that most of us who got breast implants after breastfeeding really only

needed a lift.

I wish that is what I had done!

Keep us posted on your decision...you are saving yourself from much misery and

additional surgery by going with the lift and foregoing implants!

Hey Dede,

I did lose some sensation in one of my breasts, but it was not from the lift.

It was from the implants. I believe that a nerve or nerves were damaged when

the implants were inserted, as there was a quadrant of my right lower breast

that was numb after implants, and the feeling never returned there.

I also have reduced sensation in my nipples, but I am not certain when that

started, but I'm pretty sure it was from implantation also. After explant, some

sensation gradually returned to my nipples, so it seems OK now, but I think it

is much less than before I was ever damaged by surgery.

It all depends on the skill of the surgeon!!!!

That is really a good sign that you have never been diagnosed with anything, as

frustrating as that is. Your records will be pretty clean then, and nothing

will follow you around on your medical file. At least that is the way I try to

look at it! Have to find the good in there!

I'm sorry to hear you don't have access to decent foods there in Kuwait. That

would make me a little crazy. But at least you can focus on doing what you can,

and hopefully the detox will help in the long run.

I've known other women, like Kathy (Mikat) who have the same response when they

detox. They can't do anything gung-ho, but have to take babysteps or they react

wildly. Kathy has never really been diagnosed with anything either, except for

fibromyalgia, but she had that before implants. It just got worse after.

Keep up your good efforts, , but don't stress about anything. Just be

good to yourself, and enjoy those precious babies!!

Love you!

Patty, Did you have all of your scar capsule removed when you explanted? I am

trying to decide which route to take for explant. Dr. Kolb told me to have the

scar capsule removed but Dr. Melmed in Texas (who only performs explants) told

me not to since mine are saline and I've had them for less than 5 years. I'm

confused about what I need to do.

Hi,

I absolutely had all of my scar tissue removed at explant. I would have no peace

otherwise.

I agree with Dr. Kolb and her stance.

With all due respect to the wonderful Dr. Melmed, I do not agree with his

premise that the capsule will dissolve on its own and therefore is not necessary

for those with saline implants. There has never, ever been any medical

literature that has supported this idea, and in fact, there are other studies

and evidence that indicates that the exact opposite occurs..that the scar tissue

does not dissolve, but rather morphs and calcifies into bioreactors that have

long term risks in the body. Dr. Pierre Blais has written an excellent article

that discusses this. That article can be found in several places on the

Internet, as well as in our files section in our folder on explant.

To give my position further support, I will include the letter we have on file

from Dr. Lu Feng, one of the world's top experts on proper explant. She

speaks pretty clearly on the need for capsule removal:

Thanks very much to Dr. Lu-Feng of Cleveland Ohio for these remarks

regarding capsule removal after saline implants):

A biological capsule will form around any implant. Any saline implant removal

will require a total capsulectomy. Like anything else in life, there are few

exceptions. Here are the few exceptions which would have to be fulfilled

before I would entertain the possibility of not removing the saline capsule.

(1) The capsule has to be tissue paper thin and without contracture.

(2) The patient has to be without any local or systemic symptoms.

(3) The saline implant has to be smooth shelled.

(4) There has to be no previous history of gel filled implant insertion.

All these conditions have to be fulfilled before I would consider not taking

the saline capsule out. As you can see, few patients would fulfill these

criteria. Invariably, I take out the entire capsule around saline implants.

Drfeng@...

So, if you look at the position of Dr. Kolb, Dr. Feng, and Dr. Blais, they stand

pretty much against the idea of leaving the capsule in. I agree with them, based

on the idea that if you are ill, and you do not remove the capsule and do not

get much better, you will have no peace about that scar capsule that remains

inside you: is it preventing your healing? The only way to be free of this

worry is to make sure it is totally gone in the first place.

My motto is: Better to be safe than sorry.

I wish you the best!

I hope that helps in your decision.

Hugs,

Patty

I thought I really wanted implants. Now I don't know. Does every one here have

Saline implants only? I thought I had done my research, but it doesn't look like

I have. Please help?

I just got back from the store....and was flipping through some of those

magazines at check out. I was so bummed to see one particular article....can't

remember which magazine, but it was titled " The Incredible Shrinking Boob Job " .

It had pictures of several small breasted actresses who had appeared to have

gotten implants....one of my favorites was Kate Hudson! I was so disappointed

to see her with an apparent boob job!!!!!! Kidman was also featured and

one other actress that I can't remember. I should not be surprised about Kate

though...I remember how disappointed I was hearing that Goldie Hawn had gotten a

boob job. Come to think of it, what is going on with Goldie Hawn? Never hear

about her anymore....

Apparently the sizes being requested for implants has gone way down....so the

question of whether or not they have had a surgical procedure is not obvious.

The sad thing is that illness can strike no matter what size you get.

It's too bad. I sure wish the fact that women get ill from implants would

become more acknowledged, something we've wished on this group for over a decade

now.
