Guest guest
We have found out that children with extreme GI issues cannot tolerate certain supplements. If you get no improvement with SCD,then it might be the supplements that are preventing the healing. Even supplements that are SCD legal might not be absorbed by a very damaged gut. You might then need to remove all the supplements for about a month and then reintroduce them one at a time. ,a mother who recovered her son from Autism with SCD,wrote the following comments about SCD and supplements. Mimi =================================================================== Many people have found it easier to stop the supps when the diet is introduced and then add them back one at a time, once any die-off has happened and you are seeing some steady progress. a)it's easier to track the effects b)you may find you don't need all of the supps you were using before. However, some parents have discovered there is one or more supp they are unwilling to do without. There is no definite " right or wrong " here. SCD is about listening to your gut and your child's and doing what feels right each step of the way. Not everyone approaches it this way, I'm sure, but I have found for me, it has been the way to go. Whenever I have gotten uptight about how it's going, it is always because I am beset with the " I should's " - I should be doing this, I should be trying that, I should be adding this........ Good luck. The diet is wonderful. in Ottawa SCD 7 months+
