Guest guest
Hi, Let me apologise first if this sounds incoherent. I'm really confused and worried and would appreciate any suggestion. I started my daughter on SCD on 11/26. I gave her eggs, Intro Diet Chicken soup with boiled chicken and cooked carrots, apple cider and apple sauce. Apple sauce is not an Intro food but we needed it to give her supplements. Her poop was grayish white for a day then got better. It has bits of carrots in there. She was lethargic for 2 days and then got better and responsiveness was good. Then I found out that the elli cider is illegal so I switched to home-squeezed apple juice, sieved. I gave her spinach which gave her gas. So I took it out. After a few days, I gave her 2 inches of very ripe bananas consequtively for 2 days. Her responsiveness got worse and was very gassy. I discontinue bananas and she was back on the Intro Chicken soup with cooked carrots, home-squeezed apple juice, home-made applesauce and eggs. All this time, carrots was appearing in her poop (even when blended), so I removed that too. I gave her well cooked green beans but have no idea if it is ok since she was already so gassy and responsiveness was already bad. By now, her tummy seems even more bloated than before, her responsiveness is bad, her tantrum is way high, she's gassy (both ends) and always hungry. Dark circles under the eyes are apparent when it was hardly noticeable before. Questions: 1. If gassiness is a usual thing to see at the beginning of SCD, how would I know if a food introduced is not tolerated? 2. If it is phenol problem (since she seems to have problem with banana), what other juices could I give her instead of apple juice? Welch grape juice and Dole pineapple juice both are fortified. Are they ok? Both are phenolic too. 3. I am thinking of going back to Intro Diet, but she really isn't eating anything different than Intro Diet, except applesauce. Any suggestion on how I could take out applesauce during Intro and still give her supplements? Sorry for the long post. I'm really frustrated and worried. I seem to have made matter much worse by starting her on SCD. She was a little bloated and gassy before but now she's way way way worse.
