Guest guest
Hi Genz and Everyone, Well, thanks for asking. Here's the news: My family (hubby & 2 kids) and I travelled from Texas to NC for me to have surgery on 4/17/00. At the clinic on 4/15, Dr. R. gave the news of 's death. At that moment, I had an extremely strong instinct to bolt. When it was my turn to meet with Dr. R, I told him that I had doubts about proceeding with the surgery. In an instant his response was to not have it done and to give myself at least 6 months to see how I would feel. Even knowing I was not going to have the surgery, he proceeded to spend at least a 1/2 hr. with my family answering all of our questions. He never at any time tried to convince me to have the surgery. He at all times had my best interests in mind. It was also so clear how much pain he was in trying to cope with the loss of . My son (age 7) sat on his lap and later said to me that he thought the doctor was " great " . It's amazing how children have a sixth sense about people. My husband and daughter thought he was wonderful, too. So, we spent a week at the beach in NC and then returned home on Easter Sunday. I've learned a lot on this website and have read so many stories and have received so much encouragement. As my weight has not caused any major health problems, I'm going to try exercise and diet yet again. I'm just not ready to face the most severe complication. I've joined a water aerobics class at work, something I NEVER would have done before this website and learning about obesity. I now frankly don't care who sees me in a bathing suit, as long as I'm doing something for my health. By the way, Genz, I have Prudential insurance and they were WONDERFUL. So, be encouraged. Best of luck and after you and Peggy get done, maybe we could still meet at the juice bar at the Dallas Galleria or somewhere between Dallas and Tyler so we can see Pat Eppler! Anyone else in the Dallas area who would like to get together! Best wishes, Bern > > > Dear Pat, > > My prayers are with you, your son and your families. I hope you are > > well.
