Guest guest
HI PATTY Saw what you posted and wanted to ask you a few questions. This filtering you were talking about. How long does it take? I guess everyones brain is different. What features on the Freedom that you mentioned is helpful. I was activated middle of August and as far as I know just have one good program that I lesten to 99% of the time. I am not sure what Adro, Whisper and Sensitivity does. My appt with the audi is end of the month. Any info would be most helpful. a
Guest guest
Hi a, I think I'm the one who wrote about how your brain filters out noises that you don't need to pay attention to (when you have typical hearing). How long this process takes depends a great deal on how long you've been without hearing. In my case, it was about 3 months from the first activation until I got to hearing the way I do now. But I was only without hearing for 6 months total. It would take longer if you've been without hearing for years. Ask your audiologist about BEAM and ADRO and how they function. WHISPER is used to raise one voice in a quiet setting. For instance, if you are in a church and the minister is preaching, and everyone else is quiet - switch to Whisper, and it will amplify this ONE voice in quiet. Also good at meetings where one person is speaking at a time. Obviously NOT the choice for parties where everyone is talking at once! SENSITIVITY controls how large of an area you hear from. Imagine dropping a stone in water. As the circles of water get larger, the area increases. You are the center. Moving sensitivity up increases the area from where you hear. I use a sensitivity map on my 3G. That means the volume is always the same, but I can increase how large an area I hear from. With the Freedom, you can control both the volume and the area (sensitivity). Since I don't have BEAM or ADRO on my 3G, I can't tell you how they work. But you should have received a DVD and information explaining that to you. Or ask your audiologist. I will be getting my Freedom for N24s mapped next week, so I can start addressing those questions soon. Write down any questions you have for the audiologist and ask them at your appt. It's so easy to forget what we wanted to ask. There are no stupid questions, just ask to find out what you want to know. Guest guest
Patty, My revision is in a week & a half (July 16 & 23) at Northwestern in Chicago. I scheduled it way back in March and it seemed so far off. Now it's almost here, yikes! I know where Wilmington is I grew up in Rockford (right where we now are back living). So when I had to have my original surgery in 1989, the local docs said they'd refer me to Madison, WI or Chicago. My parents seem to have a fear of driving in to Chicago, so they chose Madison. We also had relatives near there, which made it easier for my parents during my hospital stay. How is your back doing now? > > , > I grew up in the little town of Wilmington.....so my dad hated driving us to Chicago for those visits! Now we live in Iowa. Since scoliosis is hereditary we tried to figure out where we got ours. My mom did not show ANY signs of it 'til she was 60, then it came on severely within months. She's very bent over to the side and will never be able to have the surgery. > It was terrible for my parents to deal with 2 of their kids having such major surgery. Of course they never showed us their fears or concerns. Now that I look back (I'm 43 now), my dad had 3 heart surgeries (he didn't survive the last one) and gall bladder surgery, my mom had 3 back surgeries for disk problems, I've had 2 back surgeries, gall bladder surgery and breast cancer, my sister had the scoliosis surgery and gall bladder surgery.......for fun we used to add up the inches of scars that we all had!!! I know that sounds sick, but you just get through things one day at a time and I'm sure your revision surgery will go great. When is that, or have you posted that before and I missed the date?? > Patty > > > --------------------------------- > Get your own web address. > Have a HUGE year through Small Business. >

Guest guest
Hi : Thank you for keeping Caitlin in your prayers. Next step is an MRI of her spine on Sept 15...can't come quick enough for me. Until then, just keeping an eye on the abdominal issue, head and now spine. She has been home two days now with a migraine. Hopefully, she will be back in school tomorrow. How is Rob doing health wise? Is he loving college life and being away from home? Take care. Guest guest
Patty everything that goes down your mouth /throat is filtered in your liver. It could be very possible that the vitamins your Doctor told you to take could be the problem. I am not a Doctor but have a lot of my own experience. If you would not mind would you send an email with the ingredients in your vitamins. The very worst drug for a liver is my anti-rejection medicine. I really hope and pray it is the vitamins causing the problem. Wouldn't that be a wonderful New Year Gift. I cannot take vitamins for the very reason that they are toxic to the liver. Guest guest
Lady Gaga is going to pose for playboy and was recently tested for Lupus Makes me wonder if she has implants Sandy~ I just got back from the store....and was flipping through some of those magazines at check out. I was so bummed to see one particular article....can't remember which magazine, but it was titled "The Incredible Shrinking Boob Job".It had pictures of several small breasted actresses who had appeared to have gotten implants....one of my favorites was Kate Hudson! I was so disappointed to see her with an apparent boob job!!!!!! Kidman was also featured and one other actress that I can't remember. I should not be surprised about Kate though...I remember how disappointed I was hearing that Goldie Hawn had gotten a boob job. Come to think of it, what is going on with Goldie Hawn? Never hear about her anymore....Apparently the sizes being requested for implants has gone way down....so the question of whether or not they have had a surgical procedure is not obvious. The sad thing is that illness can strike no matter what size you get. It's too bad. I sure wish the fact that women get ill from implants would become more acknowledged, something we've wished on this group for over a decade now.Patty> > > > > > From: tinakkelman <tinakkelman@>> > Subject: Thinking about Implants> > > > Date: Thursday, June 3, 2010, 7:40 AM> > > > > > > > Good Morning!> > > > Or I thought it was! Guest guest
Hi Robyn, I am so sorry to hear that you had breast cancer twice...that had to have been a nightmare for you. I can understand your confusion, and your excitement at the prospect of finally having new breasts after what you have been through. I respect you for all you have been through and the decisions you have had to make, and so I hope you won't feel that anything shared is meant to be negative for you...it is just the reality that I and many other women have had to live with. It is my hope that if you do in fact get breast implants, you never experience the horrible health effects that so many of us have. Not all women who get breast implants get ill, but if you are one of the unlucky ones who do, it will be another nightmare to live through. You can read our stories in the files section, plus there are other websites where women have shared their testimonies of illness following breast augmentation. Additionally, some of the women have become ill following breast implants after cancer, and they have struggled with very, very difficult health issues as well. Two of our women from the group were long time participants...Lynda Roth and Rogene Schorer, and these women, both breast cancer survivors, succumbed to cancer once again. For Lynda, it was lung cancer. For Rogene, it was brain cancer. They both died only a few months ago. So, why are we against having breast implants inserted into the body? Very simply, because they can destroy health. I was an extremely health woman before getting breast implants. My health crash was devastating to me. I ended up with a diagnosis of Hashimoto's autoimmune thyroid disease, but that occurred several years into my healing path. Originally, soon after implants, I was unable to be diagnosed with any particular disease, but I had an elevated rheumatoid factor and a lowered C3 complement, which all pointed to autoimmunity. The chronic fatigue was debilitating. My brain function was muddled, cognitive dysfunction very troubling. I had twitching, vision problems, and other neurological signs that were scary. And nobody would point to the implants, though it was the ONLY thing in my life that had changed. In hindsight now, 12 years after the fact, I can tell you without a doubt that the implants had devastated my health. It's quite clear, because I was healthy before them, very ill within 9 months of getting them, and back to fairly good health again 4 years after explant, and my health has remained good ever since. I live a very full and active life once again. However, my autoimmunity will probably always be a factor to be aware of. My biggest regret in life is in getting implants in the first place. I wish I had never, ever heard of them. I think they are a miserable medical device. That is my opinion based on the hundreds of stories of misery I have heard over the past 12 years, from women of all walks of life and from many different countries. I wish there was a better answer. I believe that someday the medical world will be able to come up with cloning tissue as an answer. Currently in Japan, there is a procedure that uses stem cells from liposuction to fill out the breasts..I believe we have the links in our links section. My aim is not to confuse you, but share that breast implants do indeed carry risks, and it is my hope that your doctor is sharing those risks with you. He may downplay them or consider them insignificant. I hope not. They are real. It is a risk that you have to decide whether or not is worth it. If you DO get breast implants and experience health consequences, it would be wise for you to know ahead of time how you will deal with that event. That is where hopefully, we can offer some insight. I wish you the very best! Guest guest
, Yes, please let me know what your experience is with Dr. Hiatt. He treated me with nothing but kindness and respect the whole time I saw him, so I was extremely grateful for him. It was at the time I was desperate for some help because I was so sick. He explanted me correctly. Have I gotten better? YES!!! It took 4 long and grueling years, but I got my life totally back. I have continued a lifestyle based on natural therapies and detoxing, eating well, ( I eat a lot of stuff that I know I shouldn't eat as well, but I've definitely changed what I eat and how I eat it). I live a totally normal life, and have energy to do almost anything I want to do. I say almost because I am no longer able to stay up until 2 AM and not feel totally wiped out the next day. I do need to get my sleep, so I try to get to bed by 9-10 PM. If I do stay up late, my brain feels really tired the next day. Otherwise, I no longer feel any residual effects of my implant nightmare, and since 2003 have been able to travel overseas (something I had never done before) to the Dominican Republic, Haiti, India and South Korea. YOU can get better....don't let anyone tell you otherwise. But you do need to become aware of what your body needs, and take the necessary steps to get a proper explant, and then detox your body of everything.... A case in point.... I used water-only fasting in the first few months after explant to rid my body of toxic wastes. This was under the supervision of a naturopath which I had requested from him. I saw evidence of toxins coming out of my body in the form of rashes on my breasts by the 3rd day as well as my lower scalp (I had horrible brain fog). I did several 3-5 day water only fasts, and then I moved on to other therapies to try new things, such as chelation therapy. By 18 months post explant had reached a plateau where nothing was seeming to work and I still felt very poisoned. So, I went back to fasting (this time on my own, no supervision), remembering that it was pretty effective. I was so stunned to see rashes appear on my breasts again by the 3rd day! I was like " what is up with this rash on my breasts? " So I decided to fast every few weeks for at least 3 days until I could fast and not see that rash appear. I did it for several months (water only fasting for at least 3 days every other week or so). After I could fast and see no rash appear, I began to notice slow progress toward good health again, until finally I realized I was living pretty well again with no brain fog or any other symptom. My progress was slow and steady, but I began to really live well, with the exception of some fatigue. A new doctor here in Vegas diagnosed my Hashimoto's autoimmune thyroid disease in 2002. He put me on Armour thyroid and I felt really good. I basically stopped seeing doctors after that. I found internet sites to order my own blood tests, so I've been pretty independent when it comes to my health care. I encourage you to keep reading and keep discovering what your body needs to feel good again. With the right tools, resources and effort, you will find your way back to good health! Guest guest
I forgot to mention that the last blood test I had showed no antibodies at all, and when I asked the naturopath about the Hashimotos', she said, " There's no antibodies, so don't even worry about it. " I consider myself cured of the Hashimoto's. I don't take any meds. The meds help but I'm still having trouble. After 2 1/2 weeks of being on the meds, I went back to the asthma specialist. Ofcourse he put me on more steroids and gave me a breathing treatment. My father and aunt both have asthma but even they are like, " you should be feeling better by now. " Well, I'm not...the shortness of breath and chest tightness are are super bad in the morning. Guest guest
Hey Patty, I'm gonna look up Hashimotos now.... A sincere thank you for all of your information regarding your healing journey in the post below. In my sickness and anxiety about it all, I'm planning a trip to Hawaii in which my bro in law is paying for all of it for our family and we are leaving next Tuesday for a week, then a couple days after is Christmas... I'm making an appt. with Hiatt in early January. Guest guest
Hi everyone. Patty, I looked that up and it sounds like me also. I have all those symptoms and wasn't diagnosed with hypothyroidism until about 2 yrs after these implants were put in. Do you think the implants caused hashimotos? I'm so sick of feeling awful. I'm nauseaus and weak right now...again.. and I have a headache. I NEVER got headaches before. I am so glad to hear you are getting better! How inspirational for all of us too.
