That was years prior to my diagnosis. Now with cirrhosis its not anything my doc is concerned about. Actually with the intake of prednisone he (gastro doc) would prefer I have some weight on my body to help build some bone density (if that makes sense). Thanks a bunch. P.S. thanks for the INFO JERRY on Fatty liver and cirrhosis. Jen On Wed, 28 Feb 2001 17:02:07 EST, wrote: > Hi Jen.. You see my doctors think that Steohepatitis is what caused my > Cirrohsis.. Some of the foods I would be allowed to eat as a type O I cannot eat according to the candida diet. Does the book say anything about candida? Have you considered the quality of your protein? Have you considered the quality of all of your calories? Have you increased your daily fiber intake? Have you decreased your fat intake? > Since 9/2001 I have lost 55 pounds, thats also with strength > training at the gym 3-5x a week plus 30 min cardio. 52 " waist to a > 42 " although now having to use the belt again. With the technology that exists today, I feel that possibly I could have fathered a child. We are past that time in our life and enjoy our grandsons. If my wife and I wouldn't have wanted children, the chances of me being DXed with Klinefelter Syndrome would have been very slim if at all. HAVE A GREAT DAY! Guest guest
Hi Ivan, Thanks for the advice. I apologize if I made it sound like HRT was the great miracle weight loss substance, it isn't. It may have been an inadvertent tool in my weight loss process. However a great deal of my early success is the fact that I did allot of exercise combined with diet. I of course have certainly taken into account the quality/quantity of proteins(whey and soy mainly), fats (unsaturated), caloric and fiber intake (veggies plus fiber supplements.). That I feel is where allot of people begin to fail in weight loss efforts. Really good advice to suggest, looking at those aspects. With the muscle I have gained and the weight I have lost I probably have lost closer to 70 pounds. You're absolutely right, muscle does weigh more then fat. At first this was a discouraging aspect when it seemed I couldn't lose but a couple pounds. My personal trainer was very supportive and helpful in aiding me. He taught me about eating clean, strength and cardio training. Although he insisted that I learn to pose, lol, that wasn't going to happen! Thank you for your advice and I truly appreciate your comments. Very helpful and insightful. Take care, > Hi , > > Remember that muscle weighs more than fat, so when you are building > muscles, your weight may not go down as fast. > > Have you considered the quality of your protein? Guest guest
I feel a need to relate my experiences concerning weight loss with TRT. While technically, I did not lose weight...my gut, which overhung my beltline by a few inches....is gone. I attribute this to the hormone therapy...as my diet, which is quite good, and has been in place for 10+ years was unchanged. My exercise pattern has remained unchanged, in place for 3 years. The only variable is my much higher T level. As mentioned earlier above...my weight is still around 230. My BMI has changed. _________________________________________________________________ MSN Photos is the easiest way to share and print your photos: http://photos.msn.com/support/worldwide.aspx
Guest guest
I think the real key issue here is BMI. That is what I am seeing change. My body fat percentage must have been really high. I had baby fat on every part of my body. I even have cellulite on my inner thighs and butt. Gah. That is already nearly all gone. But I am seeing more and more noticeable signs that it is burning off in all places at once. I think it really comes down to building muscle, which is what the hCG and AG are doing for me. My arms are nearly twice as big and well-defined than when I started. Muscle requires more energy to support it, therefore it is burning more fat. I have been surprised by how little exercise I have had to do. I ride about 22 miles 2-3 times a week and then rollerblade for an hour when I get the chance. The more I do, the faster the burn off, the better I feel and the more I can handle the next time I exercise. I have stopped watching the scale, I am not concerned with weight anymore, just BMI and the way I look and feel. I have actually even gained another 12 pounds the last time I checked. This scared me at first because I know that these medicines are actually anabolics, which will turn into fat if you don't workout. So basically, get your T levels up, workout as much as you can without injuring yourself, take vitamins, eat protein and you should start to notice a positive change. I was bled last night, 7 vials. I will have copies of my numbers to share with all of you on Monday, I hope. That is when I see my endocrinologist. Best of luck and never give up! Guest guest
The main thing is, so long as you're eating healthy (which, if you're on the candida diet, you definitely are!), and so long as you're not going hungry. Eat until you've had enough, but not until you've had too much! The exercise will raise your metabolism, gradually burn fat, get oxygen into your tissues and therefore help to kill the candida too! Every second day (ie, 3 - 4 times a week) is enough to get your fitness level up and burn fat, and allows you to have those important 'rest days' in between - otherwise, believe me, you'll get sick of having to drag yourself to the gym every day - having rest days then makes you look forward to the next time you go there! Good luck and enjoy getting fit! Ali >Thank you Ali!! ) >I intend to start going to the gym every day starting next week. Now that >I feel good enough! Maybe that's all I need. Guest guest
Yes, but if someone is " stuck " now with a slow metabolism, they need to eat fewer calories than what they were eating before. And, building muscle is the way to increase metabolism so you are able to increase the amt. that you eat..... Guest guest
I have to chime in on this, but all metabolic studies here( in the US) show that you don't necessarily eat less, you eat smaller portions more often. The eating less is what threw the metabolism into the " starvation mode " . Fat burns 2 calories, muscle burns approx. 52 calories. Also, if you eat no more than 300 calories per meal, every 21/2 hours, your body should be able to process this without sending everything into fat storage via insulin. The same types of studies show that 10 minutes of exercise, 3 times a day, will provide approximately the same cardio benefit (not necessarily fat burning benefits) at 30 minutes in one session, daily. This works for any type of exercise. They will all provide oxygen to your cells and weight lifting can be an extremely cardiovascular workout, depending on the weight and timing of your session. If you are increasing your calories but the calorie increase is in the form of vegetables, especially negative calorie vegetables, your metabolism is less likely to go into starvation mode and force unneeded calories into fat storage for future use. > Yes, but if someone is " stuck " now with a slow metabolism, they need to > eat fewer calories than what they were eating before. Guest guest
, I'm not sure. Most veggies are so low in calories. Lettuce and celery have virtually no calories at all. Most vegetables that are really low in carbs are also very low in caloric content. Guest guest
Hi , There is an entire list of them, and a book that someone wrote with a full diet. Basically, you are eating things like artichokes, cucumbers, lettuce and some others, that require more calories for your body to digest than the food contains. It puts you in a deficit category for input/output. I haven't bought the book, but did some research on the idea and some of the stories are pretty funny. Basically, a lot of people that didn't believe in the idea, tried the diet and it worked. Because it is a primarily vegetable book, it would probably work with Candida. On the upside, the book may have some interesting recipes in it. > > I have to chime in on this, but all metabolic studies here( in the > > US) show that you don't necessarily eat less, you eat smaller > > portions more often.
