Guest guest
It's going well for me.. I've lost 105 pounds (125 to go). I follow the plan with a minor deviation in that I eat a different calorie level and ratio for weight loss. I also don't eat butter even though it's allowed as I find it causes trouble with my weight loss. I also can't eat cooked carrots but I can eat them raw. Your weight will normalize to where ever it is supposed to be through this process, although you will probably lose weight if you need to and will stop when you get where you are supposed to be. If you don't need to lose weight you will probably lose, get fairly thin, then get back to normal. Guest guest
Personally I have lost 75+ pounds in almost 8 months...but then I needed to lose that and more. I know Debby, one of the moderators, has lost over 100 pounds so far. Some people complain because of the weight loss because they were thinner to start with. But it does seem that everyone loses some at first. Ellen [ ] Weight Loss Has anyone lost a lot of weight (20+ lbs) on the candida diet. I lost 8lbs in two weeks. I read somewhere that lots of people lose tons of weight because they've eliminated sugar and gluten products. Should I expect to lose more? Guest guest
I am of the opposite crowd. I haven't lost or gained anything! I'm mildly frustrated at it. I'm only about 10-15 pounds overweight in my estimation, but I thought that by giving up all that sugar I was eating I'd lose *something!* It's been 3 weeks since starting this diet. I was already grain free (except my gluten free cookies) and dairy free going in, but I was eating about 9 cookies (a box) a day! Guest guest
Hi Marla: I've been on Bee's diet for months and haven't lost an ounce either - and like you, I would be delighted to lose about 15 pounds. However, I think in my case, it's the fact that my thyroid is out of whack at the moment (low body temp, etc). Guest guest
Hi Penny, Hummm...that is interesting. My thyroid has been out of whack off and on over the years. My body temps have been good lately, but I'm the one who keeps forgetting to take my temp (and I just ordered that nifty thermometer with an alarm and a memory!) I do know that coconut oil is supposed to be very helpful to the thyroid, so I make sure to get my daily 6 T. Oh well for me - we'll be ttc in about two weeks! It's nice to know I'm not the only one not losing. Cheers! Hi Penny, low thyroid function can mean you'd have difficulty losing weight see this reference: http://www.drrind.com/scorecard.asp. Hopefully you are taking liquid chlorophyll made from alfalfa, ocean sea salt and butter which all provide iodine which is important for the thyroid. In reality it is more like my weight is shifting, because the scales haven't changed much, but I am having to buy new pants because everything is so tight. I am small anyway and my upper body has actually stayed the same. I am assuming this is all due to my thyroid and my adrenal problems. I know my metabolism is messed up because even when I had the stomach bug and didn't eat, I actually got bigger. Now I try to make sure I eat enough, so my body does not go into starvation mode and retain more fat. Has anyone else experienced anything like this? Do you have any other explanation for this Bee? Also, usually if I begin to feel a bit better, the weight gain will stop, but when I don't feel well (which is more often than not), I start retaining fat. If I would have gone on Bee's diet 2 years ago, I would have lost so much weight, but now it is the opposite. I did read a book by Dr. Schwarzbein who is an endocrinologist. She advocates low- carb eating to heal your metabolism (adrenals, insulin) etc. She says that if you have a damaged metabolism you may either gain fat or not lose until you are healed. Then when you are well, you will burn fat if you need to and get to your ideal body composition. I know having candida will just make it worse too. Just my thoughts and a good motivation to continue on the program in order to heal. Trish

Do you have any other explanation for this Bee? ==>Yes I can explain it. Your body creates fat to store toxins away from vital inner organs; the more toxins the more fat. I think it will make a difference when your cells are structure the way they are supposed to be, most should be at least 50% saturated fat. I heard somewhere (can't find my reference) that it can take up to 4 years to change cells. The cells in the lungs need even more saturated fat. Guest guest
Jules, if you attend to the reflux, which is probably hypochlorhydria, you'll be able to keep food down. The best and most assimilable healing food even to a damaged bowel and poor stomach acid content is undenatured whey. Of the undenatured whey, the Jarrow concentrate will be higher than most in glutamine, which feeds the bowel lining cells and allows them to regenerate, reducing leaky gut. Undenatured whey is also specifically indicated in the PDR for weight loss and production of the antioxidant glutathione. Always use selenium supplements with it for glutathione production. Here's the direct link to Jarrow whey; it's on sale: http://tinyurl.com/yj8nop Here's the direct selenium link: http://tinyurl.com/yfgboy Inulin will help change the ecology to a more beneficial one and the better ecology will also feed the bowel lining its essential fatty acid, butyrate. Here's the direct inulin link: http://tinyurl.com/8ao2j Duncan > > Hi everyone. This is my first post here. I've been diagnosed with > Candida and Leaky Gut. Guest guest
Jules, lactose intolerance is not an issue once your bowel dysbiosis is corrected, as the probiotic organisms eat the lactose before it causes indigestion. Nearly all of the lactose has been removed from undenatured whey anyway but wheys do vary between factories from less than a gram to 2 grams in a 36-gram dose. The other thing worth repeating is the possible need to address hypochlorhydria, insufficient stomach acidity, which is a major cause of dysbiosis and once you have dysbiosis the nutrient malabsorption leads to hypochlorhydria. We've discussed increasing stomach acidity with betaine HCl in the past and also using the mineral zinc, vitamin b-complex and a few other supplements that correct stomach acid production; I think you'll find the info in a search in the archives. Guest guest
Hi there, I have a similar problem with the weight issue. The problem is, the very reason you're in this condition is probably the candida in the first place, which causes so many other problems. And then it makes you unable to have certain things, so you may have to put up with being underweight until you have it under control, then you start aborbing more nutrients and gaining more weight. Alot of people lose more weight in the early stages before weight starts to go back on. You have to be vigilant with the diet, but I have found the the inclusion of healthy fats have enabled me to gain more weight. LIke having butter, extra virgin olive oil, organic coconut oil, lard, etc etc. Eating, cooking with them and it seems I can fill out more. I don't know if you can handle eating eggs or meat, but you mentioned heavier things you'renot able to tolerate... can you take any supplements to help build you up? Like dessicated liver (for B compex, plus it's natural), bone meal supplements? Just a thought. . > > Hi everyone. This is my first post here. I've been diagnosed with > Candida and Leaky Gut. Guest guest
Duncan, if I had hypochlorhydria, wouldn't using apple cider vinegar help, rather than harm? I took an apple cider vinegar capsule last week and it screwed up my stomach and gut for serveral days...flaring up my acid reflux again. I was back to choking on acid for a while there, but it has since subsided. And how would I know if my bowel dysbiosis is corrected enough to even tolerate the whey? I'm still having serious food issues related not only to intolerance, but also anything related to oils, butter and protein fat. I'm surprised I can tolerate the almond milk I've been making and am relying on that to help fatten myself up a little with. What about Hemp? I bought a packet of Hemp protein to try that I'll add to a glass of almond milk. Guest guest
Hi , Unfortunately, due to the Leaky Gut I'm unable to tolerate butter and any fats right now. I tried some extra virgin coconut oil and my gut's just not ready for it yet. I've been able to start using almond milk that I've been making, and I hope that's a sign of better things to come. When I tried it several weeks back it was a no-no. So I guess it's just a matter of time...I need to be patient and set more realistic goals for myself. My TCM suggested I try making pancakes with quinoa flour I have, altho I'm not sure what would happen with an egg in there. I haven't tried eggs yet. You're right tho. I'll just have to put up with being underweight till I get things under control. It took a long time to get this way and it won't improve overnight. Thanks for sharing. It's helpful to know I'm not alone with this. You people here are a godsend. Jules > > Hi there, > > I have a similar problem with the weight issue. Guest guest
Jules Try not to get sucked into the undenatured whey sell been there done that - I cannot use any undenatured wheys myself as I am intolerant to casein - look at the work of Dr twogood he says to avoid ALL dairy for pain and many other things wheys included. I tried for years with undenatured wheys (three different brands) they make me really really sick every time (casein is in them) i do not agree that whey works well for many people infact it can make them very very sick me included. Since I stopped taking undenatured wheys and ALL diary and used other things I am much better. Look at the work of Dr. Twogood. Guest guest
I'm going to take your word for it, altho I will check into the work of Dr. Twogood. I've had nothing but trouble with dairy of any form all my life, and after this experience with Candida/Leaky Gut, I swear I'll never touch it again. I'll stick to Rice Dream frozen treats and make my own almond/nut milks from this day on. I'll never get this sick again! Thanks for your input, I appreciate it. Guest guest
The point to taking enough betaine HCl is to make the lower valve open out of the stomach; not enough acid fails to do that but then feels like it's too acidic to your throat, which lacks protective mucous. Vinegar is only about a tenth as acid as stomach acidity; not acidic enough to do much toward making the bottom stomach valve open, as you've experienced. Many people require four or more capsules of Betaine Hcl with a meal; on this list uses 10 and prefers more. Duncan > > > > > > > > > > Hi everyone. This is my first post here. Guest guest
I think you probably would have been OK with Immunocal; it's officially noted to be well-tolerated by severely milk-sensitive individuals in the Physicians Desk Reference for prescription drugs, and that's what I had seen in practice. In practice, very few people react to the better undenatured wheys that are on the market, It might take a bit more time to do it cheaper, but by reading the label or contacting the manufacturer you should be able to get the specs on the whey and finding one with no casein or lactose; they vary by about a factor of three or so. Cold-processed whey is a major therapy and generally well-assimilated. Males have no way of storing T, so nightime erections, in my opinion are a way of helping T (blood flow with erectin) move out of our scrotum area. L arginine-pyncnoginal.sp are helpful for me. Or a small amount of viagra before bedtime, increases NT erections. I have found if I am having nightime erections, all is well. kind regards david > Thank you all for your answers about my weight loss question.
