Guest guest
Hello MGB Friends, I am back and feeling great. I had planned to stay in Durham through Monday - but I felt so good - I just wanted to get on the road. We stopped and shopped at Sam's Club in Winston. Then we stopped to visit my neice for a few minutes. When we got home we unpacked and I fixed supper for my family. I fixed them Chicken, Mashed Potatoes, and Asparagus. I had the water off of the potatoes for my meal - it was yummy. (and believe it or not it was enough to satisfy me.) Well, now let me back up and give you the details. My husband, my daughter and I checked into Duke Towers on Thursday evening. I was thrilled to get to meet Kim Cook and her family. Kim is gorgeous even with some extra weight on her - so watch out world!!! Have I mentioned to you all that I am a hypnotherapist. I used much of my knowledge in this field to prepare myself for this surgery. One week before surgery I visited my hypnotherapist in Marshall, NC. On the way down in the car, I had my 10 year old daughter facilitate a session for me. But, most of the time I just did self hypnosis. I visualized every detail of the operation and just how I wanted it to go. For instance, I knew that as the instruments go into me that if a nerve is hit that will mean extra pain for a while and I knew that if a vein is hit that will mean bruising - so I visualized everything moving out of the way as the intruments penetrated me. I visulaized that I would not bleed and that my heart and lungs would function perfectly and so on and so on and so on. WELL, I have to tell you that everything went just as I had visualized. I had no gas pain, I had not one bruise. I had no problem at all. Everyone was great at the hospital. I actually did not get everyone's name but they were all great. I met Dee who had her surgery on Wednesday. She was still in there. Everyone please send up prayers that she will receive complete healing. Oh yeah< I must tell you all about my last meal. You won't believe it. We stopped at a convenience store on the way down and I got saltine crackers and vienna sausage. Yep, that's what I wanted and that's what I had. Well, now that I'm a post-op I want to help any and all of you make it to the other side. So send me your questions, please. At this point, everything has been so easy - that I will have to see some weight start coming off before I'll no for sure that I really had surgery at all. It really is that easy for some folks and I am one of the lucky one. I already have more energy - so let me help you pre-ops!!! BTW, Thanks to every one of you for all the prayers and good thoughts. I felt totally surrounded by them and had no fear at all. Love to all, Carolyn POST-OP 5/19/
